well all my old problems are fixed by upgrading to 1.1 (a few login and security problems)...... but now im stuck with a slew of other problems...
i am getting a copyright missing error at the bottom even though i am using the default theme... (the error shows up on ALL the themes i try to install...)
and there are several images not showing... even they are where they are supposed to be! right clicked on one of them and then looked to see if the image was there... it was...
what the heck is going on here anybody? somebody? please...
thank you,
danny
did you remove (delete) any of the default theme files?
nope... just upgraded from 107 and it didnt work anymore.. i think i may just try copying the theme directory out of the original instalation zip and overwrite the currupted ones.. anyone see any potential problems with that? i have installed no mods.. and no other themes.. and have not altered the default theme AT ALL... that would be a big no no ... ;)
thanks,
danny
if you haven't altered any files and have no mods, overwriting
shouldn't be an issue. upload away..
let us know.
ok i did.... that didn't work... all fresh themes directory and its still doing the same darned thing.... could it be something in one of the other files? perhaps a file missing... my forum is being hosted on a friends server... he may have deleted something by mistake.. where is the copywrite info kept? i know there is some info in the index.template.php of each theme but isnt there another file that is it linked/tied to? perhaps something is wrong there...?
are there any smf personell around that i can give an admin user/pass to? they can see for themselves.. :(
(by the way im not discougaging any help from others.... (saws) i 'prechiate it.. but would also like to have somebody take a look.... ;)
thanks,
danny
ok this is really frustrating.. i cant figure out what the problem could be... i was running v1.0.7 and everything was fine except for a login issue i was having...... i upgraded smf to 11rc1 and now the copywrite isnt reading and i have a huge ERROR and people IMing left and right telling me about it... whats the deal... i changed nothing... just ran the upgrade and looked... :( no more i have even deleted all the themes and reinstalled them... even deleted default and copied it in fresh from the installation zip... this is wacky... and i aint even talking about the images that are there but not showing up..... :P sheesh... oh well... ill figure it out some how... the worst part is that its on another server... and i can't change anything on it from here.. :( waaaaaaaa ....... :( im not outa ideas yet though... just getting discouraged is all......
if anyone has any ideas or files or codes i need to check for please let me know...
thanks,
danny
if its not one thing its another... now the forum is really acting strange... it can read posts... (at least the ssi.php can cause my top_boards table is working on the main site..) and such... but when you try to enter the forum it says database error.. then when you refresh it takes you to log in... but wont let you log in.... and if you hit home like you just want to be a guest it wont let you.. it just brings you back to the login... yet... i dont have it set up that way... what the heck is going on? the forum is slowly but surely currupting itself or something.. sheesh.. i have done nothing... simply been reading the files to see how to fix the copyright problem... here on the smf support site.. have not touched anything in the forum directories.... anyone got any idea what is going on? it wont let new users create/regester a name even... now how can the forum be having database trouble... yet the ssi.php (wich uses the same files right?) is working fine...
ok i fixed it.... i had to manually back up my database and reinstall smf ... then used the repair settings php ... it found a few links and paths that were out of place... so perhaps that was the problem... anywho it works fine now save for some normal errors. but i think there are fixes for them... (login problem on 1.1rc2? )
well thank you anywho...,
danny
^i had the same problem it kept giveing me a database error and a copyright violation after a while of no one being able to help i just deleted the whole directory and gave up :-p good to hear you got it fixed mate
I'm still not sure why you were having so many problems trekie. Have you tried a clean install of 1.1 RC2?
i went and deleted the database and everything and am about to reinstall it, but you can bridge SMF and Joomla right? do i need to do anything before i install smf, or do i just download a module from it somehwere?
silverdragonrs,
I spent 5 hours the other nite trying to change from 1.07 to 1.1rc2 and had the exact same problems. I tried everything under the sun to get it to work. I couldnt get past the copywrite error. I tried a clean install of 1.1rc2, then restored the data base from 1.07 but that didnt work either. I still havent been successful in changing over. Anyone who has the time and resources should install a test 1.07 forum and then try to change it over to 1.1rc2 as I did multiple times and got the same result every time. I looked in this forum for others with the same problem the other nite but couldnt find any so I assumed it was someting i was doing wrong. If anyone has any other ideas PLEASE let me know because i want to change it over. Having said all that, SMF still rocks
^im in your boat i still havent gotten it to work :S
hey peeps.... it was pretty easy in the end... heres whats up
if you have access to your database files then copy them and save them to a new "safe" folder...
delete your forum and your database entirely... leave no file behind..
frech install rc2 now... (if you have upgraded before then it has already updated your database to version rc2 so dont install v1.0.7 and then upgrade... just install rc2 using the install.. again not the upgrade)
make sure to name your prefix to the exact same prefix as your backed up database files.
make sure nothing is accessing you site.. (put it in maint mode or shut down apache)
delete your new database one file at a time.. some will not delete so skip them and come back to them after all the others are gone... leave no database file alive as long as it has that prefix.. when manually copying the database files it will not overwrite... leave none behind....
now copy your backed up database files into the directory
you are almost done..
download the repair_settings.php from here - http://www.simplemachines.org/download/index.php?thanks;filename=repair_settings.php
and run it.. this will fix most of your problematic paths and settings... you are done..... your forum should work fine now... i have only had one problem and it is a common one i have read about all over the forum here about the login acting up a little..
hope this helps you...... the repair_settings.php is a heaven sent to a noob like me who keeps messin it up.. lol
