The Forum Packed up a while ago and i did a fresh install
I created a new SQL user but retained the old database, which was fine
everything works fine except for the fact that users cannot remain logged in for anything longer than their current session, once they leave the site and come back they have to log in again? new users who register dont seem to be affected, only members who were there prior to the forum crashing
I have got people to delete their cookies, but that does not work, i have changed the cookie name, and got others to delete cookies at the same time and still no luck
any ideas??

Are you using database driven sessions? You can check if you do by going to Admin -> Server Settings. The options are found at the bottom of the page. :)

even thought the address was the same the old bookmarks in favourites seemed to be the key
i deleted the boolmark and logged in then rebookmarked it and voila jobs a good un
