Kirjoitti: dorie - kesäkuu 13, 2006, 11:45:25 IP
I was trying to install language packs, and they didn't work when I put them in public_html. So I put them into the www and into the SMF folder too, by dragging from my desktop. Next thing I know, the forum is completely gone.

I tried to delete the language packs, but I didn't even see them there in the SMF folder.
Please, please help! Will I lose all the member info and posts? Is everything destroyed forever? My forum was at

im not sure what you did but im guessing you overwrote or corrupted files. If you have phpmyadmin access you can just backup the database, but the mods may be lost.

I'm sorry, I don't know how to do that. SMF came with my webhost,  so all I had to do originally was install it from my control panel. So, I'm sorry, but can you please explain how to do that?
And if I reinstall, will I lose all my members and posts?
Please, this is a nightmare.
Thx,

!st thing.  No you will not lose none of your members.

2nd.  What you can do is download the UPGRADE package for SMF 1.0.7 and FTP to your site and overwrite the files.  After you do that point tyour browser to upgrade.php.

I just realized- you said to upgrade to 1.07. Right now, I have 1.1rc2. Isn't that higher? And does that mean, OMG, that nothing can be done?

Like Scubasteve said 1.0.7 is lower.  You would have to use 1.1 RC2 upgrade.  I figured since you said you installed it from control panel that you were running 1.0.5.

ok, I found out I do have phpmyadmin, but I have little idea how to use it...
And 2, yeah, I started out with 1.05, but I gave my friend ftp access and he installed 1.1rc2 for me (thanks so much!)
But since that is the case, what options are left?
I contacted my webhost, and they said they can produce a back-up- but for a very high price.
So, please, what can be done?

Can you open Settings.php and there is a line that says maintenance = 2;.  Change that to 0.

Fixed, I helped over Skype.  The forum directory had been totally removed, so I reuploaded and ran repair_settings.php.
