I moved my host, which included moving SMF. I downloaded my old MySQL database, installed SMF on the new host, imported my old database into the new database.
When I go to the new forum, I can see everything, including the messages. But it will not accept my password! I tried the repair_settings.php and everything is fixed. Still can't log in with the password.
Are you getting any errors? Did you use the same version of SMF as before?
this happened to me one time. i fixed it by changing the name of the cookie. You can give that a try by editing settings.php
Yes, it's the same version of SMF.
I tried changing the cookie but didn't work.
Do you get any errors when you try to login? Can you post a link to your forum?
Until the DNS propagates it is at: http://72.9.238.138/~slqkean/things
Error in the log is:
?action=login2
Password incorrect - <span class="remove">Hellfire</span>
And I know I'm typing the password in correctly.....on the old site, I had to log in twice before it would accept the password, could that be causing it to be worse now?
Maybe I'll try a fresh install, and import everything BUT the member list, see if that resolves it....not many members, can easily just have them re-register, the content is more important IMHO.
Looks like I got it resolved.
For some reason everything imported fine, but the member list did not import correctly. For my Admin login, it would not work. I deleted it in SQL, created a new login, gave it admin rights in SQL. Logged to the board just fine. Created my original Login, gave that Admin rights and now everything is good.
