SMF Version: SMF 1.0.6
I've clicked on the upgrade link in the Admin panel to upgrade my SMF 1.0.6 forum to 1.0.7. The install actions show a success. However my host requires any access using FTP to make use of SSH so I'm not sure if I can give the FTP info to the installer.
Is there a way I can CHMOD the files myself, and if possible which files need to be made writeable? Or should I rather do a manual upgrade?
A manual upgrade might be easiest for you. Since you are on 1.0.6, just grab the -update package from the download area and follow the directions.
Is it necessary to upload the Themes as well?
Yes. If you are using a custom theme, you will want to see if the creator has updated it for 1.0.7, or you will need to. The changes between 1.0.6 and 1.0.7 are mild, and I don't recall if the themes changed at all, but best to be safe (or perhaps a staff member can confirm on the themes changing part).
Thanks. I did a manual upgrade and everything seems to be working fine now.
