yes...  the 3.0 version uses hooks, but  the upgrade did not remove that line from index.php

perfect, i'll make a little patch.

When I try to create a new blog post it says "An Error has occurred! Message body is required" Even though I typed in the message body. I even went back and put more in the body thinking I maybe didn't put enough? I also tried to write in the About Me section & it said I didn't' have any topics still. Everything passed the tests in the install. I just started playing around with SMF 2.0.2 (my current forum is 1.1.16) so this is a test forum that I just installed last night & only has this, Simple Portal & Email Template Editor on it.

disable WYSIWIG editor

there used to be a problem with posts...  if BBC or HTML codes were the first contents of the post, it would give that sort of error.

Does the "message empty" error happen all the time?

Like I said, it's fine for me (I've never had the error message), but some users are reporting that no matter what they type in the box it says "message body required." That is, all the time.

EDIT: I found out what was causing the error message. Some users had the WYSIWYG editor turned 'on' by default and when using it the blogs don't seem to recognise any text that is input. By using the non-WYSIWYG editor, they don't get the error message. Just in case anyone else receives the same error, just switch off your WYSIWYG or don't use it for the blogs.

As of 02/21/2012 this error continues as after I installed the blog, created a category and attempted to save my first post I recieved this error, but it will go away if you turn off your WYSIWYG or don't use it for the blogs.

Thanks, Good to know, never activated the WYSIWYG, might be why I never got the error message. Glad to see you are up to speed.

Hey, some of my users are reporting error messages with the blogs.

They keep getting the message "Message body is required" even when there is text in the text area and they have first created a category to post in.

Any ideas?

This should work fine. I have the blog and when a category is created and a topic is created in that category with information in the body section, things should work. Maybe something didn't happen durning installation or another mod may be preventing it from installing correctly.

Some of my members have no problems with submitting blogs but for others it comes up with that error message.

I know it's not another mod that's interfering with it because I had installed it previously with the same mods I have installed on the forum now. I had to uninstall it for reasons I won't go into, but reinstalled it again later and some of my users are reporting this new error, even if the message body has text in and they have created a category first.

What I'd like to know is if anybody has received this error message aswell and if so, what they did to solve the problem?

I don't know what to tell you but if some have no problem and some do, sounds like a user problem. Don't hold me to that cause it could be something a SMF specialists need to tackle. Have had no problems with my installation or usage.

I thought that as well at first, but we've tried absolutely everything to try and determine what the problem is but no matter what we do (different browsers/settings etc), it still comes up with the error.

Installed NO ERRORS on RC5. I tried to create a post:

ERROR:
Message body is required

I had title: "Hello World!"
and body: "Hello World!"

just to see if it worked, i get that error.
the same here...
ah ok, I have to disable the wsyc editor. I think this blog and this portal need an update...

All this time, and an update, and the problem still exists on a clean RC5 installation. Moving on...

I love the idea! I look forward to getting it out to my users!

A couple of things I noticed that a scan of this thread didn't turn up solutions to:

- I can't change the position of my categories. I type in a different order of positions, click Save, and it just goes back to what it was before.

- When using the WYSIWYG editor, I get "Message body is required". It doesn't happen when not using WYSIWYG. I saw that others were getting this error message but I didn't see a solution.

Again, I love the idea. I hope I can get this working on my forum and maybe integrate it into the rest of the site.

I'm using SMF 2.0 RC3, SimplePortal and ADK Blog.

I uploaded and installed ADK Blog.
I activated ADK Blog.

I can't find where to start a blog.  There's nothing in the menus.  If I try to add a block to SimplePortal it tells me there's no Blog installed in the forums.  Help?!?

(Edit: Ok, it seems that this is limited to the Admin (myself) that doesn't get a blog.)
