Hi,

Can category content be displayed on the home page?  I need free or paid help 

There will be only one category and subcategory in the forum

It is certainly possible but it would require alot of changing to the way SMF lays everything out. Definitely not an easy job.

I am assuming you want it to kind of look like Flarum yes?

In short, you are asking for a complete redesign of how smf works.

That redirect is going to cause issues.  Don't do that.

If all you want is a list of topics on board index,...

Why not create 1 board in 1 category and set the number of posts on the info center to 50 or 100 on theme options? Tho' I don't know if SMF has a limit to display that many.

Maybe even using SSI into a block?
