The option is to check the xml file and see what is added to the proper files... and edit that files manually inserting the mod...

Greetings

well, my brain is unfortunately not quite as PHP-compliant as most of y'all...

if someone can please post details on what i'd need to, in easy steps, i'd be most appreciative!

i can handle swapping out text, but there's no way i can read a PHP mod file that will tell me what to do!

tethead,

I don't mean to be mean, but if you plan to run a forum with anything other than the default theme, you will have to learn how to read the mod package files and apply the mod into different themes. Most mods will only install on the default theme.

In addition, if you have to manually apply all of your mods due to a lack of FTP, then you REALLY need to learn it.  the instructions are all there in the XML file within the mod package. it tells you search for "X" code...   either add before, add after or replace, based on what the XML indicates.

ok, i figured it out, and it actually worked!  awesome mod, thanks!

the hardest part was figured out the youtube.gif goes into the ../bbc/ folder within the theme's images, cause i just couldn't figure out where that had to be.  works like a charm on Safari, Firefox, and Camino as far as i can tell, and i think the IE users would've commented by now if it weren't working there.  not that i'd care what happens to IE users anyway...  8)

Does anybody know what the problem with the code is that causes this to not work in Firefox 1.5? I am encouraging my users to upgrade to 2.0, and I understand that nobody wants to mod this to run on older browsers, but I wouldn't mind giving it a go myself, but I cant' seem to find what the problem is at all.
it doesn't work for firefox 1.5.0.4 too

Does anyone have this problem or know how to solve it? It also makes the text huge in IE7.

Did you even try a search or looking back in this thread?   This was answered just one page back.

No I didn't, the thread is pretty huge, it could have been anyway.

Thanks for the answer though, I'll give it a go.

Is there a way to have the entire youtube code entered, taking on the part after the = is actually more confusing than just copy/pasting the entire code into the slot.

Several of us have asked for that.  We're being ignored for some reason.

If you actually took the initiative to read back several pages, you'd find that your request was never ignored.  I mentioned that I would add that in the next version of my mod.

Well, in that case, my apologies.  I didn't see that (apparently no one else did, either).  My bad.

Excellent mod!
No problems till now.
But today some members (not all) made complaints that they can not watch the youtube videos. They can only see the first image with the arrow (play).
Any help?

MrAnderson.cl

That happens on old versions of Firefox... I'v tested it on Firefox 1.x and it happens what you're saying

ok, i'm having same problem with firefox 1.x (i havent tested with 2 yet). in the subs.php file i changed the line to:

'content' => '<object width="$2" height="$3"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/$1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/$1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="$2" height="$3"></embed></object>',

which is the code used by youtube. it still doesn't work, for some reason it drops the closing </param> tags and i get this:

<object height="350" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xRwfojgoSAA"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xRwfojgoSAA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" height="350" width="425"></object>

so maybe if this is solved then it will work on all browsers?

ok, i found a work around for me. that is to use this mod instead:

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=390

and works ok now :)

As I've mentioned since post one, this mod is compatible with new versions of all major browsers.  Included with those is Internet Explorer.

but there is a lot of people which doesn't have newest versions of all major browsers......
