Well Hello [Unknown], I did it last night and things went like a charm on switching my Ole' YaBB-SE over to RC1 . . .   ;)

With this switch I now have 3 forums that I admin to and thay all are now on SMF totally . . .  ;D

I think the over 200 users I have on this one will be happy in the morning when they wake up and find I have switched the forum over to the new SMF.

I checked out about all I can think of and did not find anything that is causing any problems as of now, and don't think I will . .  :D

Now I need to find some time and work on learning how to make it look like I had it before on the YaBB-SE where I had the menuing down the side and all with my site Logo on the top. I guess it is time to play with learning PHP editing and finger that out, and make my own Theme.

BUT! wanted to say "THANKS" to the full Dev Team here @ SMF for all the time and dedication that they have and are putting into this great forum software.

Keep Up The Fantastic Work Team . . . . .  :)

So do i!
I upgraded four boards from 1.3.0, 1.4.1 and 1.5.4 to SMF RC1 without ANY mentionable problems. One has more than 1.800 users and 50.000 posts, another has a single 10.000 posts box, everything went really fine!
Special thanks to the upgrade/converter maniacs!!!

That means that RC2 is very close to being released  :)

I'm looking forward to seeing the change list... :D

Ok, this clears things up for me. I was getting worried when my admin mentioned it was outdated. I hate missing upgrades.  So its not released yet.

i really can't wait, either... RC1 was awesome, with RC2 and tons of bug fixes (at least i supposet hat's what the major changes are) i expect even better. SMF is awesome

compa

We just have to wait for the changelog or availability of RC2, but im quiet happy with RC1

Snuffy

"BUG FIXES! for RC1?"

I see no bugs in RC1, so this new RC2 can only be Additions of Goodies and nice to have controls and Extras and the like!

Now that is not a patch, that my friend is an UpGrade~!

Thanks Devs for your work. I using SMF for a few days and i must say it's awesome!

I have it integrated in postnuke with the recent pnSMF module (does anyone know how to convert the attachments using the phpbb2_to_smf from a pnphpbb forum?)

I can't be a chart member, but of course i'll donate money to keep the good work up.

If everyone would donate for example 5 bucks for time to time, or at least, for each release (if they consider it ok) we could help the devs to keep the forum up2date ;-)

Prone

Yeah, I was worried aswell b/c my admin console showed me a new version which I couldn't find in the downloads section. Good to know all is well. Hope it gets released as soon as possible but not until totally stable. RC1 works like a charm though.

Thanks dev,
Phil

seems SMF 1.0 RC2 is avaiable for charter members. whats the difference, anyone know?

klumy

I think it's just bugfixing.

BTW
will this be the last RC before Final release?

rascal

ok, anyone know which bugs were fixed? there should be a list of notifications available to public!
(so we want to become paying members all of us!)

[Unknown]

There are a lot of bugs fixed.  The changelog will be released when 1.0 RC2 is released.... it's not that far off.

ok thank you!
i have a custom template (or rather, the great template called Curve, which i have modified a lot). i also had to modify some files not in the templates' folder, now i'm a bit scared of upgrading -- might it make my site not to work?
i guess that if i were to upgrade, i cant skip the file/files that i have modified?

[Unknown]

Templates/themes from 1.0 RC1 should continue to work...

Any source file modifications you made will have to be redone.

I have this strange problem, that if i log in, and then for example my browser crashes and i later go to my forum, i am still logged in  - and cant log out!! it says session error.
in the loginout.php source file, in function logout(), i removed checksession('get') and then it worked!
is there a security trouble with removing this checksession('get') function here, or could i leave it removed? at least it works now!

[Unknown]

Yes, if you remove that it is possible to, for example, log you out when viewing a post/topic automatically, such that you cannot delete that post or topic without quick moderation or logging in without leaving it in a separate window.

not quite sure i understand what you mean.
but is there another fix?
