Yes, I think I will. Although I don't reckon it will win, but it would be fun to try. :)

It's great, I've installed it. One problem though, in Firefox the forums stats and the time streches out the table...view this in Firefox to see what I mean. Also the 'Reply' button under IM view is the defualt one.
  Great theme though,

The reply button...that I will have to fix. But in my firefox both my test-forum and yours show up just fine? I use Firefox 0.9.3 though..maybe older versions differ.

Or do you mean the stats/time/login part is a bit wider than the rest? If so, it's intended to be a bit wider.. ;) Sort of "braces" the page under - or so my idea was anyway.

I mean that in 800 by 600, Firefox it streches out the page..If you can try my forum out in 800x600 Firefox, you should see what I mean.

Yes..I am sorry about that. It is the graphics that declares this. Instead of making the layout more complex in wrapping the buttons on low resolutions by more tables, I just declared the row unwrapable. That way it wont push the buttons downward and break the design.

Not a good solution, I know.

Nah it's all right, I'm probably the only person who uses both 800x600 and Firefox on my forums.  :)

I like it. Check it out here.

When I read my private messages the Reply graphic is still from the default theme. I cleared caches and all. Kinda weird but dont care much about that.

Great theme. Thanks!

Thanks. :) The wrong button is corrected in the file archive - bit if you want to just update the image, save this graphic below as im_reply.gif in themes/ helios(?)/ images/ english/

Make sure you don't have the board set to use its own theme.

I really like this theme, and I plan to use a modified version of it (coloured slightly differently to match the site). I've coloured most bits how I want it, however I would really like to be able to add a background colour in the "special header boxes", ie the User Info, News, and the board icon key area (if possible). Currently it can only be the same colour as the background ie black and changing anything in the style.css file doesn't do anything.

It seems that these areas are designed to have a grey rounded border around them but have no background. Is there a way to change it so the background to these boxed in areas could be made a different colour?

Also could someone tell me how I edit the theme to make the user info and news boxes to go side by side sharing 50% of the width each instead of being one under the other.

(I hope I explained that correctly enough for you to understand what I mean!)

This is a nice tutorial for this question:

http://patrick.hardcorecoders.net/tutorials/

Thanks to the author..

bloc

That tutorial is excellent, but to answer his question about background - one will have to find in index.template.php the line that begins with : $topbox=

This variable holds the frame aorund the newsbox and userinfo and if you add a bgcolor="yourcolor" in the last <td> of that line, you will change the backgroundcolor in both. BUT there is one problem...the graphics for the frame(and everything else btw) is NOT transparent in order to achieve a smooth transition, so you will have to change the graphics as well if you dont want a abrupt change from your color to black.I designed with black background in mind, and have to change all graphics and a few places the bgcolors in order to get a different background...

Moving the newsbox can be done, but you will have to take out the code for putting a logo on the right, and changing widths in the user-info box as well.

Apnomis

Thank's very much for those replies. I've been using that tutorial, but changing the thing it suggested didn't change what it said it would! However, Bloc's suggestion sounds like just the ticket!

I am aware I'll have to change some of the graphics. At first I was going to change the whole background colour, but it seemed like far too much like hard work to Photoshop all those images! That's why I wanted to give the header boxes a background instead, so I had less to change! I've never done a theme before, or any PHP for that matter, so appologies if these are simple questions to the experts here!

P.S. Great work Bloc, I'm looking forward to seeing your next project ;)

bloc

Thank you. :)

My next project is almost ready, and will be less graphic intensive and more "allround" I suppose. ;)

I am enjoying so much the freedom SMF allows in making themes that it is pure fun just setting it up. And of course - without YaBBSE/SMF I would not be into the forum business at all, so this is also a way to give back what the developers have put in of dedication and time making YaBBSE/SMF what it is...

When I was asked to set up a board for a bunch of women :) trying to start a site without the ****** ( excuse my language) that often comes up on similar boards , I tried out several. But fell in love with YaBBSE immediately and never looked back. My poor members had to endure a lot of changes, but never complained - and are now using SMF and its actually increasing the traffic..!

Apnomis

Well it's great that you're feeding such good quality themes into the community! I only wish I had the skills to do them, but sadly when it comes to coding I'm stuck in newbieville!

Any chance of a little sneak peek of your latest work? :D ;)

bloc

Sure. :) Will be a few alterations, but mainly this is it.

RCHawaii

Thanks for the info. and Nice work.
