Registration Scenario

I have a specific registration scenario I want to achieve, and I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. (I'm using SMF 2.0 Beta 3.1 Public)
Once the user first registers he is set to a user level where only ONE forum, 'make comment to admin', is visible, and ONE topic "leave your comment here".
The user should also be prevented from creating any other topics.   No other responces to the topic should be visible other than the one created by this new user.
Once the user has left the message, his permission level is automatically changed so that all the other 'boards' are visible and usable. But posts by other users
in this first 'make comment' board remain invisible.  I know this will require specific alterations to the 'default' user.
I probably don't need to mention that I new to SMF.
Any ideas about how to do this are greatly appreciated.

Reading this over, it might be hard to do. Willst there are ways to make one board appear for users with 0 posts, it will be difficult to make it so they can only see one topic and only their own reply in that one board.

My suggestion to you is maybe ask them to PM? A comment box of sorts? You could have a screen after register that asks them to type out a comment, then that comment could be sent via email to you, or something in that manner.

Hope that helps you out a bit.

Yes it does and thanks.
I was looking at the '0 posts' option, but I wasn't sure if this would allow guests to have the same level of access as this newly registered user.
I guess I just need to test out various setups.  It's just sort of a pain having to constantly create and delete test users.

I'm just surprised that I can't restrict the new user to see only his/her own posts.

Other than creating a custom field in the registration form, I'm not sure how I would create an extra screen that appeared AFTER the registration process.
Is there some mod that I need to do this?

Thanks again for your assistance.

With 1.1.x I'd be able to direct you to a solution, but the mods required aren't available for the BETA 2.x yet.

Combination of Membergroup on Registration mod, View Only Boards and/or View Topic permissions mod.

You might have limited success using Post Count groups, having that control access and remove the Regular Members/Guest from other board views except that one board.  Then have the next Post Count group start at 1 and have that control access to all other boards.
