Hello, i installed a forum yesterday.
after creating boards and so on

i tried to acces the forum but this error came

'Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.'

what could have caused this?

r33k

you hosting maybe be very busy and cause the connects to lag and browser to timeout, or there is a problem with the settings you made for your server DB

Afro

so, do i ask them or just wait for them...

Nathaniel

If there is a possibility that your database information is incorrect then you should run the 'repair_settings.php' file.
What is repair_settings.php?

Otherwise, you should ask your host. It may be a temporary issue, but you should inform them anyway... ;)

Make sure that you have uploaded the 'repair_settings.php' file into the core directory of your SMF install, the one that contains your 'settings.php' file. If you can't access it then it may be in the wrong location.

How do I use FTP? / What is FTP?
