I keep receiving this error:
There has been a problem with the database!

This is a notice email to let you know that SMF could not connect to the database, contact your host if this continues.

According to http://dimalaoshi.com/database.php [nofollow] there is no problem. My host is telling me that I should double check my script:
"Inform your website developer to double check the "connection script" to
your websites database, since it's giving you the error message about database"

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Ok firstly you have posted this topic twice. ;D Now are you able to access the site or is this also giving you the database error. If you are able to access your site and it seems to be working correctly it could be that SMF software is losing connection with the database even for a second and it would send you the mail. I would also suggest that you post a link to your forum here

Sorry, I posted twice by accident. I am also not able to access the site when i get the error (screenshot attached). i get this error almost on a daily basis, each time the outage lasts for about 5 min. My forum link is http://dimalaoshi.com [nofollow]
I was also suggested to use settings_repair.php file to see if that can solve the problem. Thanks for your feedback and, once again, sorry for double posting.

DirtRider

Ok when this happens take a screen shot of it. Then login to your host Control Panel. Now in the control panel you should have a MySQL Administration option. Now enter this area and you should see your database with an edit next to it. Hit the edit. If you get a similar error take a screen shot of this. Now send both screen shots along to you host and tell them to fix the problem they have on the server.

I was getting the same thing and the same run around from my host until I did this. They have now sent it to high level support for further investigation. I was told to inform then immediately if it occurs and so far nothing has come up again.

Oh and don't worry about the double post it does not worry me  ;D

To: DirtRider

I did exactly what you suggested. Take a look at the screenshots attached. We'll see what 1and1's customer service have to say. The problem is getting worse, btw.

DirtRider

That is the exact same story I had. I must admit since I really complained to them by attaching all the mails sent to me by SMF when this occurred plus all my previous correspondence to then and I was then quite insistent that they should sort it out. I have not had the error occur again.

this is the response I just got:

Thank you for contacting us.

The issue we had recently with our database  has been resolved by our
administrators.
Your website should be up and running without any issues now.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, and assure
you, we will take steps to
prevent this type of outage in the future.

Your patience is highly appreciated on this matter.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
-----------------

We'll see what happens :)

DirtRider

Yip that is the standard one they will send you every time you report it. If they actually looked at the problem I cannot tell you. Now save each and every one of these along with the mail SMF should be sending you. Now next time attached the whole lot and send it off to them telling them to fix the server as you have now reported this numerous time with no results. It seems this is a common problem with 1&1 as I have seen it reported here a few times by different members

I've saved everything, they should be able to see the whole thread of our correspondence along with the screenshots. If they can't handle it, then I'll move to greener pastures.

DirtRider

Except for this problem I am quite happy with the service so far but I have only been with them a few months.

dimalaoshi

Well, I've encountered connection problem again. Looks like you were right, they just sent out standard email without even trying to resolve this issue

DirtRider

Yeah I also had it again yesterday   :(

DirtRider

I wonder how many other here are with them and having the same problem. So far I did not even get the standard reply from them  :P :D

check this out:
"Thank you for contacting us.

Thank you for the email and for beariing with us.
It is my priviledge to help you and offer you assistance with regard to
your concern the problem with your database is that there is a limit on
concurrent MySQL server connections. The allowed connections is only 18
at the same time so when you exceed the allowed concurrent
connection(which is 18) you will encounter an error. I do apologize with
the problems you are experiencing right now.

If you have further doubts and concerns  call us back again our
