I Downloaded the package and installed with package manager in 1.1.6 forum.

Then edited manually the two pages that showed errors in the installation, if I remember were Load.php & Post.php, following 1.1.6 parser info steps.

Now I tried again with updated 1.1.7 forum and following 1.1.7 parser steps and its working fine...

There were 3 lines of visualmod missed in the load.php after the edit (I thought I added all changes after the install but seems that I failed), so after add them now all works as should be.

one  on the fly question more? where can I edit and set in "Bold" font the warn status & messages.. I haven't started to search for it still :)

Jessikard

:-[ is it possible to add another warning-step manually ?

i need one point before the normal warning saying: okay dear user.. once again and you get the normal warning

like yellow and red card

thx for answers Jessi

Yes. i have that.

Is there any way to add more than just the 4 warnings and make it so that admins can select a specific warning level from say like a drop down menu? Not every instance will warrant such harsh steps nor will they always require a post ban (such as the warning may not have anything to do with posting at all).

Eleglin

As I said previously (some pages before), I will not update this mod for SMF 2.0 and i will not add new features to it.
The new moderation features in SMF 2.0 are really great and so I don't think that this mod would be useful for 2.0.
Since SMF 2.0 will probably be gold in the next months and since I'm really busy, this mod seems to be feature-frozen as long as I'm the one who makes the updates.

This would not be pertinent, since the 4 levels fits to the penalties you can give to the user : simple warning, post moderation, muted, banned. This is the purpose of this mod.
I really don't think it's useful to have a system which is not based upon penalties.

@1923 : Do you have installed manually the mod on your theme ? Do you have installed it on (all) your language files ?

I never said to change the system to where its not based on penalties..lol. If you have to warn someone, of course penalties are warranted. Just not "every" punishment needs to be a post ban on the 2nd warning. Depending on what they have done, that would be a bit harsh.  I think you misunderstood entirely what I was saying. What I meant was: Not every punishment needs to be solved by those 4 punishments and those 4 only. If I need to warn someone and it had nothing to do with a posting issue, then of course I would not want their 2nd penalty to be a post ban. I would take other action (depending on what the issue is). I guess what I am trying to explain to you is that not "every" chain of punishment should be in this format. Not everyone would do something harsh enough to deserve a post ban, etc.

My main question was: Can we add MORE levels of punishment, etc

I guess it would just be easier to make my own custom warning system, perhaps using the Custom Profile Field Mod, and make my own warning system that would be more in line with, and better suited for my needs/forum.

Oh and btw....How good the features are on SMF2 mean nothing to me because I dont use it..lol. In terms of whether or not "you" think this mod would benefit being used on 2.0, that really isnt for you to decide - its for the people who would be using it on 2.0 to decide.. I havent used 2.0 myself, but how do you know that the built in features of 2.0 are applicable to everyone using it?   I really dont thnk they would have asked you to update it for 2.0 if the one thats already on there was sufficient enough for them. I'm kinda thinkin thats why they asked you to update it...lol.

Eleglin

Ok. I think I understand. But as you could imagine, a really customizable warning system could touch a lot of features in SMF. For example, if you want to restrain some access or features, the mod should modify the access rights or the group of your user.
If another one feels that he can do it, I think it could be a good think (because a more flexible system is always suitable) but not really essential and apparently not really simple to do. So if you want to add more levels of punishment in this mod, you need to modify more functions (so you need to understand and control these functions) and it will give you a gas-works.
I'm not a master jedi, so I can't do it. But you could always do your own system. The wangling can help you : if you add some groups with different access-rights, you can use it to punish manually the deviants. It could be complementary with the visual warning system, which is more adapted to restrain post-rights and inform your moderator instantly for these post-limitations. This is how I see the problem.

For 2.0 :
If I don't want to update this mod for 2.0, that's because the new warning system seems to be really flexible and customizable. And it adds premoderation, which some people (especially french admins on french support) has asked me before. :p
I'm not use SMF 2.0 on a developpment forum (for the moment), only for test purpose, and I think that this mod will be obsolete when 2.0 will be gold.
Grudge was the original author of this mod and is now a developper for SMF 2.0. So I'm confident : he will (or have) done a better system than this one.

I updated this mod before because I needed it for SMF 1.1. I don't see the benefits of an update of this mod for 2.0. But if someone wants to update it for SMF 2.0, of course I will let him to do and publish it (if the cuztomisation team is ok).

if you don't install it manually, you will see nothing. :p

Hello
I have looked over this topic and missed this issue.
Smf 1.1.6 with custom theme. VW mod 1.42

Working great with one glitch. Post moderation is not working.  When someone is moderated his post lands in post moderation center. I can approve it or delete it. Well the thing is  both buttons delete the message :/

What can be wrong ?
I have re-test the postmoderation. When you approve a message, the message is sent to the good thread and it is readable. But I can see a problem : this new message doesn't appear as new in the topic list.

If I can improve it, I'll try to do it. But i'm not sure that I can do it quickly.

if you are sure that you can't find the message that you have approved anywhere, you should verify the installation. If the installation is correct, I'm sure that it should appear in the thread, after you approve it.

I reckon the bug you're talking about, it happens to me the whole time... apart from this, I've detected only temporary bugs (and very small ones).

Ok thx. As we are using deafult theme now it should be quite easy. I'll get back to you when i'm done.

edit: ok reinstalled it and now it works but only in english. When i transalted it to polish it failed again.

Other bug beside  the one that You found is when i approve the post - it not only is not shown as new but is shown as mine.

For example if user tester is moderated and made a post i will go approve it and when i see topic list i see that last post is mine not his. When i enter the topic all is back to normal - his post is last.

Eleglin

Maybe an error of syntax on polish translation ?
