Hello Everyone

I'm hoping some-one can help me fast, even though it is New Years Eve, or New Years Day (depending on where you live)

I was just editing my forums "news" header, I clicked save, and then boom, the whole ADMIN section disappeared.  I also tried to access the "members list", "profile", and "calender" all of which have nothing in them.  Luckily though the actual forum part is still there.
But, how do I get everything back?

I'll quickly attach a screenshot of what it looks like now.

Thanks for the help in advanced.
Matt

EDIT:  Just noticed that it won't even show the posts in the forum!!  I need help FAST!!

Update/BUMP

Nothing is working.  It seems to be like it is only showing the "Top Header", and the "Bottom Header".  Sorry if these are not what they are called.  I not too familiar with the coding yet.

What can I do?  Would re-installing 1.17 work?  I only upgraded to it a few weeks ago.

Thanks again,
Matt

Only from a few months ago.

Why, you think it could be the data base?

Also, if I have to install SMF again, is there a way to install 2.?

I see you've got your forum back on line. Is everything OK now ?

iownrevo33

Nope, my forum still doesn't work.  Where did you see that it was back?

You can see the main page with all the posts, but if you click a post, you don't see anything.  Same with almost every other page on the forum

Check the backups folder from the Packages directory. You should get the latest backup files you have there. Might help getting your forum back on track.

If you're not willing to debug it all, you could make a backup now (files and database), download the large upgrade pack from the download section, overwrite the current files and run the upgrade.php. You would lose any custom modifications you have there now but you would get your posts and boards back.

If anyone else can help, please do tell.

Note: I edited your forum's url as it seems to me that you don't want it to be posted here.

iownrevo33

Ok, thanks I'll try this.

I didn't have many, if any modifications/packages, so thats fine if I loose them.

Matt

EDIT:  It doesn't matter if the url is shown.  We could use more users.

iownrevo33

Ok, so I decided to overwrite all the existing files.  Finally the "File Manager" was co-operating and letting me overwrite the files.

But, now when I run the upgrade.php file, I get this (look at attached photo)

What do I do?

Relyana

Are you sure you removed the old files ? All of them ?

Upload your Settings.php and Settings_bak.php files (from your backup).  :)

iownrevo33

Oh, I had to remove all the old files?
so, that would include everything in the forum folder?   And then I go and upload the 1.1.7, and then put in those two files (Settings.php and Settings_back.php)?

I want to thank-you very much Relyana.

I was able to re-install SMF, and everything as far posts are still there.  A few things are mixed up, and some small things missing (like links in the link tree), but they will be easy to fix.

Thanks again.

Relyana

You're welcome.  :)

Download and run repair_settings.php (should help fixing the incorrect paths you might have now).

What is repair_settings.php?

Thank you SO MUCH! I tried to upgrade to 1.1.7 and was having nothing but problems, buttons and text came up missing, all kinds of error messages, a few people tried to help but nothing worked... this just solved EVERYTHING. I would give you cookies if I could!  :)

You just made my day (or night ... it's almost 1 a.m. here) :D

I'm glad everything's fine now.  :)
