this theme is nearly ready to be submitted, ive just got a job im doing for a charitable organisation a friend runs to finish before i can do final touches on this theme so it can be submitted

Black Silk was loosely inspired by seeing an image while surfing of a glossy PS3 and ive tried to keep it as clean looking as possible

Nice theme! Looked at your site and I see you are doing a HL theme. Any chance I could see a preview on it?

Well done stikkki! :) I like the catbg images.

For the feedback..
1) You should change the guest form text to white
2) Possibly increase the width of the search textbox

Good work ;)

The login /guest text...

"Login with username, password and session length"

Although that appears to be fixed in your latest refresh.

In style.css you can adjust the input button sizes
input, button

{

font-size: 90%;

}

thanx ant, you was the instigator to way back with my 1.1.x design that lead to this design being made

Antechinus

Yeah you're making a lot of progress alright. You got skills, mate.

KahneFan

Those are both outstanding themes. Great Work!

Someone has alot of time on their hands. AWESOME THEMES THOUGH!!!  ;D

Antechinus

Ok, my 2c: you're overdoing it on the headers. Sometimes less is more. People usually want to see content without having to scroll first.

if you mean the hieght of the header you should know that is totally upto the user in its height anything from 0 - infinity px, defineable in style.css, after all you designed it  ;)

the height of the header is determinable via simple edit in style.css to adust the height so you can have narrow or wide banner to either show a simple banner or a more graphic header that can be displayed in large header image- the width of the image is set to 1600px (thats for a resolution size of about 1300-1400) - and you can place the focus in the center to about 800-900 px if you want with a nice background - this size will be visible in standard resolution monitors upto high resolution monitors with the higher resoultion monitors showing more background image

examples of this can be seen in another preview of mine

Antechinus

Yes I realise the height is adjustable. I was just opining, as one does, and in the course of said opining it occurred to me that perhaps less would be more. ;D

bullbreedluverz

less can be more - its up to the person who installs the theme, if they choose to install it, if it gets approved lol

i could show a narrow banner and say you can make it heighr but i feel as a whole its better to show it heigher and say you can make it naroower

i do like heigher banners myself compared to a lot of themes that give you the option off a 300px x 150px unless you go digging in the files and changing different images and style.css  to try to show a larger image - the design you helped create gives a lot easier manipulation of the header than is available with some other themes, a credit to your design skills to help create the ideas i come up with and ent got a clue how to instigate lol

OK, since Ant gave .02, I'll make it .04;

In regards to the banners on (all) themes. (Personally) I really would like to see more people use the SMF default coding for the banner area. In this situation, where it has your logo, using the SMF default logo/name code, you could enter your logo URL into the admin panel and use THAT logo while you're building the theme and even when you take a screen shot. But then, when you go to package the theme, what would display upon a new user's load is the forum's name, or they could input the code for their own logo easily in the admin panel. In doing so, Stikki and Antechinus would both be happy since the large logo was used for prep, but a user's forum name/logo would be used in the real world (with no coding needed). You could then include the logo within the package if someone wants to use the logo. One thing I've seen many support threads about is "How to change the logo", when this is really easy to solve if theme designers just would not use hard coded logos, but use the SMF default coding. [/soap box]

Again, love the theme(s), just wanted to give my thoughts on the banner area (since it was being discussed).
