I'm helping out someone to reinstall a forum, I just installed a fresh copy of SMF 1.0.1 but the goal is to restore a Yabbse 3.0.0 database backup in this new forum. I wonder what the correct procedure is:

Can I restore the backup and convert it to SMF or
Do I need to install Yabbse 3.0.0, then restore the database and then convert it to SMF?

Since the old forum is due to some reasons no longer accessible, the goal was just to install a new one and start over again, but just with some luck we were able to restore the database. Now I am getting pretty familiar with SMF, this isn't the issue, though I have never used Yabbse before, so I could really use some suggestions from the 'die-hards' here!

Yabbse 3.0.0? Are you sure?
Converting goes something like this;

1. Restore backup database
2. upload smf package to server
3. upload Yabbse settings.php (and template.php if wanna convert theme also) to smf root
4. run upgrade script

Thanks Owdy. Yes, that's what I was told, but I've never seen the forum as it is not accesssible. Something with a supermod (don't know what that is either) installed?

Well, that didn't work, so I installed Yabbse 3.0.0 on another location and from there I was able to convert everything. Thanks anyway, for pointing me in the right direction and also for the great work on the convertor. Works like a charm! And sorry for posting this in the wrong suboard...  :-[

I suppose it is oke now to remove the old database entries, isn't it?
