We know the signature is necessary for each user , some of users find it difficult to use that with code BBC .
I find this feature ( signature with WYSIWYG editor ) in those forums vb,ib ?

There is no need to think or choose . just smf

Arantor

Maybe once the bugs in the WYSIWYG editor in 2.0 release candidates are worked out, maybe it will.

However, since you don't normally get a preview either, why not use the WYSIWYG editor to make your signature, convert to bbcode with the switch button then copy/paste it?

netco

yes we can do it like you said .

but we want to provide the best for users :)

How often do your users edit their signature?

The average user does it sufficiently infrequently that it usually isn't an issue.

This would make a nice mod IMO.

Should relatively simple to do aswell.
I'd recommend asking for this to be moved to the mod section.

Arantor

karlbenson, is this something we'd flag up for maybe 2.1 as an option for users?

Nibogo

I don't know why this can't be included in a future release of SMF (maybe 2.0 RC3 - This isn't a big feature), this can be really useful for a lot of users, I mean copy the code is not the faster and better thing, It's a lot better to see the signature before submit it all in the same page.

Arantor

I'd have to argue it should be toggleable like it is in the main post display (I wouldn't want WYSIWYG myself)

RC3 if it happens will be mostly bug fixes only, not new features, hence my saying push it back to 2.1.

It's a great idea, maybe the developers can implement it with the toggle

I wasn't suggesting it at all for a core feature.  Its probably overkill.
For me its something that should probably be a mod every day of the week.

Obviously should someone create a mod that proves popular, then I'd sure (like with other features), it would be considered [although thats not to be understood as that we'd dump every popular feature or mod into smf *cough bloat *cough]

Arantor

Not every popular feature needs to go in, and I know what you're getting at.

Adding it as a mod would definitely suit better, and I can move this to Mod Requests. I'd hope we can get on this soon though.

Nibogo

The problem with add all the popular features as mods (Ajax quick reply, WYSIWYG on Signature, Quick Reply on PM's...) is that every new release of SMF we have to wait of the author update it or wait of someone create it also that people of can't install mods or didn't know about the mod well they will be without this feature, also another issue is that we have to edit all our themes adding this feature (In some cases the package manager fail in our theme installation)

I know the idea is keep it simple but some of this popular features are really great ideas and should be ibcluded that is the case of the Quick Reply on PM'S

Arantor

True enough. But you can't include every feature in SMF base otherwise it'll lose both its simplicity and some of its customisability.

This is a feature that I don't *really* see needed in every single forum, or even in the majority of forums, to be honest. But if people wanted it as a mod, that would be good.
