I am constantly having to re-enter my password since it always seeming to be 'timing out' or something.  Can this be adjusted or something?

What is the exact text of the error message?  "Timing out or something" is tough to troubleshoot.

No error message but the login screen pops up again.

If you mean the admin panel, it should ask you for a password once an hour to verify you are who you say are.

If this is the issue, you can turn this off, but it is not recommended to do so.

Actually this is in the 1.x forum and my instructions are correct for 1.x.  What you posted would be correct for 2.x.

I have 1.1.11 and it ask for the password often. More so that just after an hour of inactivity.  It is impossible to keep a strong password and maintain the forum his way.  I had to write a program to put in the passwords when the login window pops up.

I leave the admin open all the time so that I can monitor spam and who it registering. (This is a new forum).  The spams have been cut down but I want to keep watching the error log and awaiting activations.

Can the admin timeout value be increased or turned off?????  I don't want to turn off admin security completely or is this the only thing that disabling the admin security does???

Thanks

Disabling the admin security stops SMF from asking for the password

Thanks.

But if that is all it does then it should say Disabling asking for the password.

Will try it.

I agree, the name is misleading

Please let us know how it goes

Is this issue solved or do you still require assistance?
