sis 3.0.2 will support 2.0rc2?
No, but after release of 3.0.2 i wil start coding SIS 3.1.0 for SMF2.

This looks very  nice :D
I can translate this mod (and future mods) from you to spanish if you update to 2.0 :)

Rik©

I updated the TranslationPack..... added 2 $txt for the 'addops' option and some for the added languages (Russian and Spanish).

That translation pack is great !!!

I've one question, though: How do we know what language translations are being made ? you know many people can start translating to the same language & it ends up in a big waist of time for many of them.

Is there a list of the language packs that are currently being developped ?

What technology would it take to add the url auto insert feature to SISv3.0.2 ? (cURL maybe ? i just want to know if it's in my reach...I don't know cURL yet :))

Thanks !
Vroum.

No, there isn't.
But you can always ask me if there are any translations in development ;D

Hi Rik©
I have sent you SIS302_TranslationPack.Russian.zip via email.
Both Russian and Russian utf-8 included. I've  corrected some minor mistakes, so use this Pack instead of the files I've attached to my posts before.

btw when are you going to release 3.0.2 ? :)

Thank you for the translation.
I'll add it to 3.0.2 and release it asap, probably this friday.

Hi Rik©,

Is there anyone working on a French translation ?

If not i'll try to find some time to do it.

Take a look at this: http://alexking.org/blog/2003/06/02/inserting-at-the-cursor-using-javascript
Please if you can add this feature to 3.0.2 it'd be really cool...to me this one feature can make or brake the mod because so many people don't understand URLs ...etc it'd keep the image attachement transparent to the members.

Thanks !
Vroum.

The 'auto-insert' feature will be probably be added to 3.1.0 (which will also support SMF2 RC2).

No, there isn't.

Thanks for the info, I'm not French but i'll need it, i'll try to do my best & see if it can be checked by some French people to be 100% correct.

Aha !... Do you mean 3.1.0 will support SMF 1.1.11 AND SMF2 RC2 ?

Thanks !

Yes.
But..... the 'auto-embed' feature is not on top of the 'todo' list for 3.1.x.
Upload from url (transloading) and the resize option will be added first.

Hi Rik© !

I've just thought about a new feature, say someone is using your mod on a forum in order to host the images on imageshack.com...comes the day when the forum gets really popular & worth a lot of money... there's actually no way to backup the pics that are already hosted on the free imageshack service...those pics might be deleted & leave you with "half a forum".

The feature i've thought about should permit a forum owner to download & backup the pics that are on the free service & simplify the restoration whenever the owner wants to switch to a paid imageshack account or a dedicated web hosting & "self hosted images".

The best way to do it, would be to be able to download & backup the pics from home on a local computer (running Lamp) in order to prevent waisting the server's bandwidth & resource & upload'em back to the server when needed & change all the links in the DB to point the pics in the chosen server's folder.

I don't know how to manage the backups if,say, i want to download & backup my pics once a month but i don't want to re-download the pics i've already got in my local pics folder (at home)...Maybe by downloading a links file from the forum & filter it against the "already downloaded pics links" in a local DB or file ?

I hope you understand what i mean.

What do you think ?

Regards,
Vroum.

Rik©

Hey Vroum,

I get the picture  ;D
Saving the uploaded images urls in the db is a nice idea.
Gives a lot of other options (managing them inside the SMF acp) but it will take some time coding everything.

Why not add 2 tables to the SMF db (uploaded images and back-up images).
Then comparing these 2 (with php) should do the job.
That's what i would try first.

But this feature, maybe together with an 'auto-embed' feature, will be a lot of work for just a simple (and free) mod. But a good idea for a 'pro' version of Simple ImageShack.  ;D

Hi Rik© !

I'm glad you've got the picture :)

Your idea of adding two tables to the SMF DB is great...I couldn't think about it because i'm too green & can't start thinking DB without looking at a class diagram :-[

The easiest(dirty) way for a beginner like me would be to work locally on a backup DB & try to filter the images hosted on imageshack (by url or [img] in the messages) put the links in a table sort'em to an html page & download all with Flashget...the next month you redo the same steps, remove the doubles & let Flashget download the new files only as it keeps a DB of already downloaded files to prevent redownloading...This was for the backup only...restoring would be a pain in the butt  :o

Backup & restor would be cool, but pic management should be a differrent project...I understand you want to do the management too because you already did half the work...I think mgmt should be presented as different mods for the SIS mod :) (like SIS gallery...etc) IMO.

Of course at some point when your work starts generating money for its users it's fair that you ask for your share of the cake ;)

Btw which IDE are you using to dev in PHP ? I've just installed netbeans on ubuntu to try it, do you have any experience or idea on it ?

Vroum.

Haven't tried NetBeans yet, maybe i will test it soon.
I coded v1 of SimpleImageShack with Notepad++ and phpDesigner (2007 Personal).
At the moment i use PSPad editor a lot.

Thanks for the info !

After looking at PSPad & phpDesigner's websites, they look like good tools but Notepad++ is to me a sort of hand shaping/coding it the hard way :)

Btw, the fr translation pack is ready !

Vroum.
