Hi..

Tons of ppl having problem with the packetmanager to get any mods working  , i have them to .

I really like this SMF a lot , i have used lots of other stuff aswell but i wanna add some stuff like gallery and news mods  but this is not going to work like it should i guess.

Perhaps its the rights and i have change them to 777  and with other stuff it works so the rights are good so it must be the SMF that is not working right if it comes to automatic loading and installing mods through FTP  .

My question is ,,,,    Is it possible to do this manual ??

Yes manual is an option if you go to the mod wich you want select the smf $version you use and click on the parse button to get the things what you need to do to get it working :P

Yes I did read your post.

Your real issue is with the package manager. I just set up a SMF forum last night and the manager worked perfect. Get that fixed and you will not have to do the mods by hand.

That topic has 45 pages  and all have the same probelem and even the solutions given are not helpfull enough for some peeps i tryed the tips mentioned there in the first few posts :) . i did not dig 45 pages to find the solution.

I used the tool but i know the path so dont really needed that because the permissions are set right only not recognised by SMF so even after the permission "  "  tool things does not work  ..

I really was hoping this SMF would work like a charm and i dont have to step back to phpfusion but hell iam not up for digging into ****** for nothing for days and i geuss lots of peeps are not ...

Are these problems solved in the next release or are we up for more problems there ?

Pls dont get me wrong but i dont have much time to spend solving problems , i know sometimes you have to work some to get it going and iam not the one that gives up that fast if it does not work but 24 hours a day is not enough for me right now so busy iam at this moment...

Greets and thx for the reply.

The same issues are presented in both 1.1 and 2.0.

You haven't made it clear whether the issues are permission based and it's just giving you issues there, or whether you're having mod conflicts or not.

I have what I hope is a related question, and my apologies if this is in the wrong place.

My host does not allow me to upload and install mods so I have to install them manually. I don't have a problem with this, however by doing them manually nothing shows up in the package manager showing which mods I've installed.

Is there a way to make them show up in the package manager so I can tell at a glance what mods I've installed in order for me to be able to check for possible updates or remove them at a later time if I want?

Arantor

Agent 0E: Depends on the SMF version as to what you have to do. For 1.1  you have to modify the Packages/installed.list file, for 2.0 you have to fake entries in the log_packages table.

I have 1.1.11

Anything special I need to do or just type in a list of what I have?

Arantor

No, it's pretty complicated actually, because you need to build the whole file.

Unfortunately I never studied the format of the file, so not sure what to create it as.

my problems seems to be the  rights   everytime it says  that the directory is not writable but it is . i even dide the wole dir 777 .

Greets and thx

Arantor

Did you make every file and every folder within SMF 777? It's not just packages that has to be 777 (or 755, or 775 or something, varies on the configuration)

Note that most packages don't actually bother to change all the files in a directory, just the directory itself...

If i make all the directory's  777 then its open house for ppl i dont wanna go there in that case i have to remove this SMF   again and have to stepp back to phpfusion that worked always ok .

I guess the tons of problems with this forum dont make it easy for us users to add stuff or customise our site ....

Iam not going to make all files 777 because i can make myself up for a lot of problems later ..

The proper CHMOD  ;)

/httpdocs or /public_html give these as chmod permission 750

now your smf folder underneath as example /httpdocs/smf/*.* or /public_html/smf/*.* give these chmod 777 as permission as you see you have not worry now at 777 coz your home dir is set 750 :P
