Hello,

I'm using SMF 1.1.11 and the forum loads extremely slow. I'm using Firefox and it keeps saying "Waiting" for like 10 seconds and then it loads. It's nothing with my server. My main website loads instantly and just great, but the forum somehow doesn't function correctly. I've reinstalled it for like 3 times and used the different types of sessions, etc. This is hosted on a Windows Server 2003 server. Anyone, help?  :-\

Regards,

Are you installing any mods, or is this a clean install?

Its not SMF, its the host you are using... I recommend XtreemHost :D

It's a clean install and I'm not using any mods. It's not the host. The host is great, it's just the forum that slows so slow.

Oh, I'm sick of this. What at total waste of time. *DELETING SMF and NEVER using it again*. When releasing something, make sure it works in a Windows environment. It almost killed my Apache on Windows. I guess it's time to code my own forums. kthnxbai.

1 hour and you are giving up? seems to me there's a very small chance of you succeeding with creation of anything with that attitude

Bye, bye and good riddance!

Was your "main website" also PHP and MySQL? If those have problems on your Windblows server, SMF (or any other PHP/MySQL-based application) won't stand a chance. People use SMF on Windows servers (mostly IIS) all the time -- your server is obviously set up badly.

I was just pissed off. My server is setup just perfectly. My main website uses PHP+MySQL+MSSQL, and it runs just fast and great. It's just the forum. For example, after restarting Apache I went to the main site, loaded perfectly. After I went to the forums and waited for like 10 seconds without getting any response, it seems that Apache somehow died. So I went to the main site and it doesn't load too. After restarting Apache again, I go to the main site and it works just great again. From what I can see, SMF is doing something which somehow kills Apache... =/ Any ideas?
