is there a way, a mod, to mark a topic as "non read" for every user?

There's a way to do it. There's no mod for it though as far as I know.

If you mean every single topic in every single board, go into phpMyAdmin, and "EMPTY" the smf_log_topics and smf_log_mark_read tables.

Raffoz

thanks...

but i meant for single topics...

it'd be useful, when you modify a message in a discussion, so u can advice all the users and they read "new"...

it's better than write a new message to advice them...

You mean the thing I'm sure is supposed to be a core feature? It works just fine over on SimpleDesk.net, so I don't know what's changed there.

You could use the announcement system for that, though, and announce the topic.

Raffoz

nope, it's not my choice...

because sometime i have a post i modify many times a day, and i can't use a different announcment every time... :)

can u investigate why in simpledesk it works and why not in smf???

off topic: i wrote to the laguage coordinator to help with italian translation of simpledesk, but i haven't received any feedback... :)

I don't manage the SD site, I just write the software.

As for our Language Co-ordinator, he's been somewhat unavailable lately and so hasn't had opportunity to reply. You can request access to the Translator group through your profile > group membership, over there.

So you're effectively asking for a way to "bump" a topic automatically every time a post (the first post?) is modified, without the need to post a new message?

Raffoz

yes, everytime a post is modified, or everytime i (the admin) want to bump it...

if i can choose between the two: everytime the admin wants

Searching with "bump" in the SMF Mod Site gave this result: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1557

You might find other mods if you try different search keywords.

This mod might need updating for 2.0 RC3, though. You might want to read the mod's support topic for more information: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=284432.0

Raffoz

thanks... :)

i'll let u know if i improve the search...

There might be some other nonsense in its place, but not that exact nonsense. If all of science were wiped out, it would still be true and someone would find a way to figure it all out again."

the questions in the topics are different... :)

The first question in that topic is basically the same. However, no solution was mentioned in that topic. Hopefully Arantor will find out about how they do it over at the SD site (maybe they use a mod too?).

Meanwhile, I can try updating the Notify Modification Last Post mod for RC3 if you think it will do the job for you.

Raffoz

thanks, it'd be very nice by you... :)

p.s.: i asked to arantor too, but he has no idea at the moment... :)

Without being funny, what's more worthwhile to me to do? Do I spend time digging through code that's not maintained by me, or do I write the next part of SimpleDesk bringing 1.1 closer to public release (given that there's still 2 big features, and several minor features, left to write)

No, I realise that. I'm just explaining why not only do I not know the answer, but why I'm not going to go looking for it at this time...

Raffoz

ok then... :)

off topic: i applied for that group translator... :)
