Hello, just had a quick question as to how to change my domain name from :

www.blah.com/smf/index.php

to

www.blah.com/forums/index.php

This is my first website, so be easy on me!

Love how simple SMF was, also. Thank you very much. :)

It's quite simple :)

First, rename the "smf" folder to "forum" using either the file manager in your host's control panel or your favorite FTP client.

Then, download the repair_settings.php file from the "Tools" section of the download page. Upload this file to your forum directory and run it.

Use the recommended settings for all the paths and URLs and save the settings. Delete repair_settings.php when you're done.

Then, go to Admin -> Themes and Layout -> Themes and Settings

Scroll down to the "Reset Theme URLs and Directories" section. Verify that the information listed there is correct, and click on "Attempt to reset all themes". This will fix the paths and URLs for the rest of your themes (repair_settings.php will only fix it for the "default" theme).

A question simular to the first one,
I just copied my smf1 database to smf1test database
made a new directory called smf1test
copied all the files from smf1 directory to it.

I can do a IP direct connection to it with no problem in admin changed the name of the forums
to test forum.

In the file permission menu I see that it is still looking at some of the smf1 files.

will repair ran in the smf1test directory fix these?

****DISREGARD***** repair_settings.php worked great, this is a great tool.

What if you have your directory as site.com instead of site.com/page? What would the file be named?
Apple's got an app for that. SMF's got a mod for that.
