QuoteSMF 2.0 Final Gold, release date: 25/06/2011

We still have to wait 26 days... omg  :-\

[SiNaN]

I have no idea how you came up with that quote but the only official information regarding the release date of SMF 2.0 final is the first post of this topic and it says "by the end of May, 2011".

People who do nothing but complain will probably say that....

Do you really believe its just a matter of:  "hey, lets release version 2.0"

There are countless of little things that needs to be done before the release...   there's translations, documentation, site changes, support policy changes, etc... and above that, people who are involved are doing it on their spare time, with little to no motivation at all...

And the license will make it open source, and able to fork it and redistribute it?

Funny how some bugs are deferred to 2.1 instead of being solved for 2.0.
"There is no god, and that's the simple truth. If every trace of any single religion were wiped out and nothing were passed on, it would never be created exactly that way again. There might be some other nonsense in its place, but not that exact nonsense. If all of science were wiped out, it would still be true and someone would find a way to figure it all out again."

Of all of those, only one (the last one) might be worth fixing for a final release.  The first three are either cosmetic or rare occurrences that won't make or break functionality, and the one on ban triggers is also a rare occurrence, even more so now with all of the various spam measures that folks can employ.

I'd like to note that over 2 years ago when a bunch of met at Amy's, we moved a crap ton of bugs from SMF 1.1.x to later versions or closed as 'wont fix' type items because of the priority or severity of the bugs. What the *devs* decide to do with the bugs in the tracker is their prerogative.  The 'way to approach this' from a developer standpoint is to analyze the impact and urgency of the problem, the time it will take to form a proper solution without causing regressions and how that result of that analysis will or will not benefit the users of the software.

There's always 2.0.1...

I mean, even WP does that from time to time...

I'm just saying that i'm sick and tired of reading your posts in which you are explaning why is taking so long to relase smf 2.0.
And these are  all the same story.
And i'm wondered how you do not figure how many people/users are deeply disappointed because of this continuos prolonging.
Just my 2 cents.

I agree....after all, this is a volunteer-based project and we are all working under our own free time.
