Hello fellow SMF users.

I run a smf forum (2.0.2) and been doing that for over a year. Very recently, I have been unable to back up my database as i usually do every 2 weeks.

Each time i click on back up (under maintenance), it will download to my PC, but the file size is 0 byte.

Anybody experience this?

I have not installed any new mod recently.

Will appreciate if anyone can advice what i can do to get this working again.

thanks

Arantor

You won't get it working again.

It means your forum has gotten too big for the backup setup to handle. You should investigate the backup options your host offers you. In any case, SMF's backup is notoriously unreliable and should be avoided anyway.

Use phpMyAdmin > Export or some other MySQL backup utility. Obviously there's something else for PostgreSQL and SQLite. Never use SMF's backup -- it's never worked right. Maybe it will be fixed some day.
