Hello SMF,
I just spotted a forum using SMF without any copyrights whatsoever. Also, the hundreds of thousands of posts in this forum are stolen, and they continue to steal and copy multiple posts everyday. (If you have a blog, you may find some of your posts there! And you wonder why your rankings are going down everyday)

The rogue is at earlyface.com

Let's take action to remove this faceless fella from the web.
Thank you.

Colin

Unfortunately they are allowed to with 2.0

With SMF 2.0 you are legally able to remove/modify the SMF copyright in the footer. As a matter of fact it looks like their host "CreateaForum" might have done it automatically.

SMF can't do anything about illegal and stolen content, your best bet is contacting their service/host. http://www.createaforum.com/contact.php

What's your plan?

Colin

I think he was hoping we could do something because of a copyright violation, but that isn't the case.

I can't see hundreds of thousands of posts  ???

Hi Colin, Hi Shambles,

Do you guys think createaforum would possibly remove their website if I report them?

Btw, I did a WhoIs search and I found their name servers were on web4africa.com so I sent a report to web4africa.com but i'm still not sure if that's their host.

About the posts, sorry Shambles, I had no time to check at the time of posting so I just put up a random figure. But nevertheless, they post several stolen content daily.

Mick.

Im curious. How you figured the posts are stolen?

Shambles

The normal way of progressing a "stolen property" grievance would be to contact the forum owner first and foremost, providing an adequate sample of purloined copyright. That would form the basis of your litigation.

Next, you'd secure the services of a libel specialist and present all the proof of infringement.

Just make sure you're prepared to go all the way with this, for once you've made an accusation you are committed and it's hard to turn back.

I found 40% of my posts on there... Plus I did google searches on the texts of some other posts and found the originals.

You know how strict google is with duplicate content. They punish both site's rankings.

Mick.

I believe it. It seems them posts are being posted via rss. Like the rss post mod.

Thank you Shambles, I already sent him a message 2 days ago, well, seems like he ignored it (i'm not surprised).
I'm going to report this to everyone possible, because there's no point making new posts if someone steals it at the end of the day.

I even found one duplicate post ranking higher in google than the original from my website... That's the part I don't understand.

Mick.

I don't use this or any service like this but it may be starting point.

Thanks Mick, It looks like the best bet for me but it's rather expensive @ 199 bucks/month

As far as I know, CreateAForum is run by vbgamer who hangs out here occasionally... you may be able to get hold of him that way.
