hi guys, is it possible to remove the text from my signature and replace it with an animated gif. I cant seem to figure it out but ive seen it done by some members on here.

Just wrap the image url in img tags in your sig.  There is a mod that adds bbc buttons to the signature area which makes it easier to customise sigs but typing the bbcode by hand works well enough  :)

ive tried doing that using tinypic.com.
in my profile setting- under website title ive tried pasting the url in there and also in website url but it wont work. ive also lifted all restrictions on the size of attatchments for the forum but still nothing showing in the signature.

Did you configure the usergroup to allow signatures to be displayed ?

Yes. Go to Admin panel > Permissions > Modify the usergroup which you like > Personalize their profile > Edit signature

Yes. Go to Admin panel > Permissions > Modify the usergroup which you like > Personalize their profile > Edit signature

that is not a default permission in smf, by default if you allow "Edit additional profile settings" then the user can edit their signature.

That's the reason. Signature goes in the big signature field, not the website field. ;)

Im an administrator i have all the permissions already.
What im saying is that i am inputting the links into my profile setings, but there is no gif annimation. Nothing at all appears.

did you verify that the service that you are using to host the image allows animated gifs? by default in smf there is no way to stop them from animating, unless being used as an avatar or attachment that is resized.
