Please correct me if I'm wrong, this issue belongs to old patch and cannot be fixed with new patch?

I'm sorry to see those events and problems I'm not trying to cover it but since you are kinda disrespectful to things we are doing, i hope you can lead or suggest us better solutions. We'll be grateful to hear your suggestions about increasing our total quality in our software.

Thank you :)

Really? Do you really need this?
What's your point here? What exactly are you trying to prove with this? Something went wrong, it was admitted and fixed. Period. Move on!

I'm not saying anything, everything's fine (if I should throw a suggestion I'd always write near the packages the date of the latest update, so if I downloaded them before I know I need to redownload them). I was just laughing about the enthusiast comment above that had no problems upgrading.

Hi

The changelog for 2.0.7. is empty when downloading it. Do you know where else I can get a copy?

Thanks

Illori

I'm not sure what's up with the changelog file, possibly a strange remnant of the way 2.0.7 was pulled when something was first found out to be broken.

Here's the relevant entry though.

SMF 2.0.7                                                       January 20 2014
===============================================================================

January 2014
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
! PHP 5.5 compatibility fixes merged in. (Thanks to all who contributed but especially SleePy and Spuds)
! Trim the username if oversized when logging in. (Thanks to TMcomputering for the report)
! Check that group inheritance is actually going to be viable before trying to do further inquiry. (Thanks to tfs for the report)
! Made sure some of the calendar holidays are corrected when previously incorrect.

December 2013
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
! Don't let the prune reports function prune open, or for that matter, ignored, reports. (Reported by Kimmie)
! If an uploaded file somehow has an image size but isn't really an image, don't try to treat it as an image.
! Make file cache somewhat less fragile.
! ssi_fetchPosts didn't honour overriding permissions. (Thanks to IchBin for a fix)
! Privacy and original sending time were not kept in the mail queue in the event of sending failure.
! Wrong variable used in the mail queue handling (Thanks to Nao for originally finding the bug)
! Themes with spaces in could break the editor handling. (Thanks to akyhne for the report and akabugeyes for a suggested fix)
! Made the anti-XSS header a little less picky.
! FIND_IN_SET wasn't always properly set up for PostgreSQL use.
! Multiple installed themes with variants wouldn't all be able to be selected properly.
! Fields that are regex-validated couldn't be left empty (thanks HappyBits and emanuele)
! Fixing legacy TYPE=HEAP (thanks heusdens for the report)

The reason so enthusiastic, is I have 12 very modified SMF sites.
I had no issues, so yes, my post was very accurate and was expressing my thanks to the volunteers who did the good job of doing the update, and the fix.

So, before you start acting rude about posts and the way things are run, maybe thinking would be a good idea.

MultiformeIngegno

Well, thinking, I'd thank the developers for the release. The release PROCESS wasn't that good. Admitting a failure doesn't mean everything's bad. It's just a critic (constructive since I also suggested something: time of last update near packages). The style of my posts is arguable of course. But that's another thing.

Contrary to the sarcasm, a lot of people have successfully upgraded without any problems, because 1) most people are only doing the upgrade now - after the patch was fixed - and 2) the patch itself is known to update the files completely correctly.

As I said, there was an issue with SSI.php, and I said I would get it dealt with - and it is being dealt with. People think our site infrastructure is straightforward, that it's just a case of uploading a file... no it isn't. There's build processes, there's enforced strict permissions, and just for fun there's mirror sites to deal with too.

But yes, we are volunteers and that does limit what can be done and how quickly. If this bothers you, you should find paid software, only to receive the same quality of response with different words.

MultiformeIngegno

Okay you're volunteers but I'm saying there's something wrong about how this topic - for example - is handled. Instead of repeating every post "this is not a support topic" maybe a post to notify that packages were updated would have been more appreciated (and before SSI.php issue and after release suspended there has been another update of the packages). It was stated in support topics that packages have been updated, not here..

Other than the very first post saying that downloads are available again, you mean?

Hello everyone,

The update is available again now! :)
Sorry for the annoying delay! :(

You can upgrade as per the instructions in the first post.
Did you upgrade before we released the fixed version of 2.0.7? You can uninstall the patch through the Packagemanager, delete it and then download & install it again. :)

Thank you for your patience and we do apologize for the minor problem!
I would like to thank the users reporting a (potential) problem and of course thank the devs for their awesome work of fixing it! :)

Thanks and enjoy!

and this post that says it is available again

They were updated at least another time after that statement (which doesn't have a date except for the post edited time, which would also mean an edit for another reason). And then there will be another update for the SSI issue. The statement in the first post would still be valid (without references to date and reason of the update)?

@Illori: AGAIN, I'm not talking about the issue that caused the release to be suspended, I'm talking about this (which happened after): http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=517329.0
See? Even you don't know when packages have been updated :P

Why should we repeat everything here just because you think we should?

Again, still an edge case that will not affect most people.

If next week I change something in the installer to fix something else, and get the packages updated, do I have to tell you that I've done it? No, of course I don't.

Mind you, all of this shouting is somewhat academic because we both know that you staying on SMF is a temporary measure.

MultiformeIngegno

That's personal and it's not even an argument! Aaaand, it's not even true.. I'm still an active translator and I think I'll continue to use SMF in the future!

Funny, that's not the impression I got from you in the past... could have *sworn* you were only staying with SMF until something better came along.

But it's kind of the crux of my point: if you're not going to stay on SMF long term, complaining about people making minor mistakes is not really a major issue...

MultiformeIngegno

That's your weak point isn't it? No one is saying SMF is sh*t or you did a bad work. It's just a critic at the release process. Take the suggestions or don't, I won't cry.

Except actually, I did. I'm the one principally responsible for the original screw-up. If I hadn't screwed that up, pretty much everything else would have been absolutely fine.
