Ok question please.

Where it says alias.domain.tld  is that the subdomain I create in Cpanel ?  in other words does it have to have a tld extension or any name at all ?

tld = top level  domain, e.g. com, net, org

So in my case,   example  board1.unitedstatesfirearms.com  if created in cpanel?
And put this in that spot ??

Hmm I get a 404 error. My SMF is installed in the root.

Verified the sub is there.  Should show up.

Followed the directions read through the 10 pages of posts.
No errors, seems to be ok, but I am sure I am not pointing my domain correctly.

My forum is under the root/public_html  no sub directory.
My subdomains setup with  **** .unitedstatesfirearms.com
I placed this in the AdminCP . Is there something missing to get the 404 error?

Verified with hosting subdomain are setup and working correctly has to be something in the settings on submenu not being correct.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

I think that pmx-subforums do not work with cpanel "subdomains", you need aliases... I was able to do this using the dnsmanager in the "A/AAAA Records" section

Hi there, I do not see that setting in my Cpanel.

No, there is no option on cpanel to do it (we have a VPS)... anyway, have you tried using the cpanel aliases?

Look in this thread, it was explained several times how to do it, how it works, etc...

I think part of the problem with the thread is its explained in pieces all over the place.
And directions are well lacking hugely.  But that occurs, read through all these pages didn't make allot of sense to be honest.
A subdomain is a subdomain, using that language is confusing as this is not actually a subdomain link but a parked domain pointing to the forum
area assigned.  Be easier if it was a subdomain. Reading my questioned posed I get conflicting answers.  I do not see a  cpanel aliases
setting in Cpanel either. :)

You can point a domain as well. I have tested this with both domains and subdomains. It works.

If you cPanel, you have 2 options:
1. Create add on domain to your current hosting and point it to your current forum directory that will be installed with subforum mod. OR
2. Create sub domain and point it to your current forum directory that will be installed with subforum mod.

You can do this as many as you want but you have to create them in cPanel as mentioned above PLUS you have to enable them via subforums admin page.

This mod doesn't support alias(es). It won't work in subdirectory as well. It will only work if domain(s) or subdomain(s) is pointing to the same SMF 2.0 forum directory.

I know this is for Porta-mx but does it work with Simpleportal at all? I've been trying to find a mod that does this sort of thing, but works with SP and will allow two unique 'index' pages with blocks that ONLY show on the 'forum index's respectively.

Hj Ahmad Rasyid Hj Ismail

Split Forum Mod claimed that it can do that as well. You should check it out IMO.

skeletonkiss

I have, it just mimics an index page and doesn't work how I need it to.

Hj Ahmad Rasyid Hj Ismail

All I can tell you is this subforum mod works very well with PMX-Portal. I have tested it with other portal but they are not respecting this mod as most of them is built in certain ways that only one forum can exist. PMX Portal on the other hand, does not limit this and allow multiple subforums from a single installation of SMF. You can have different page, block etc for each subforums you have.

Great mod as it allows two different split forums to share certain forums with their own theme via a URL redirect.

The main issue however is that it does not work with Pretty URL's.   Are there any manual edit I can make in order to make Pretty URL's work or do we have to wait for a new version?

luuuciano

Well... we were using it with simplesef, it worked

* simplesef has some bugs, watch the git comments, and mod thread to fix them

Thank you for mentioning your experience with SimpleSEF and PMx-Subforums.  After a bit of effort, we finally have it working on our forum.

Any idea?
