I found a unique bug as the result of combination usage of Sentora control panel (latest version) plus SMF. I am using Centos 6 too.

For the record, I was able to replicate the bug across 2 VPS providers.

The effect of this bug is that you need to refresh many times before the SMF will showing anything. Exception is that if you are still logged on using Administrator account, everything is fine. A previous support thread ( http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=548347 ) had been opened for this issue but no solution so far because the support specialist couldn't replicate the exact problem.

How to replicate  this bug:

1. fresh install of centos 6 (x86 minimal). Then remove httpd and bind
2. install Sentora control panel (latest version) (instruction here: http://docs.sentora.org/?node=22 )
3. install sentastico (instruction here: http://forums.sentora.org/showthread.php?tid=168 )
4. activate sentastico (please see attachment: activate sentastico.JPG)
5. Install SMF and reproduce the bug (see attachment: steps to add SMF package in Sentastico.JPG)

Just to add that even you don't install SMF via Sentastico, i.e. you are downloading SMF archive from SMF website, unpacked the archive and upload SMF files + folders to server, the same bug still there if there is Sentora Control Panel + SMF combo.

My latest forum project for my client: cantonese.today/forum

QuoteHave you checked your (server) error log?
I am newbie to this. So I do not know how/what to looking for.

QuoteAre you using suhosin?
I am not sure. Fresh install centos 6 (also centos 7), then fresh Sentora control panel installation, install SMF = bug appears

QuoteAny .htaccess rules or files been used?
I personally do not use any. Not sure about Sentora Control panel.

The reason I document the entire process is to let you guys to replicate the bug.

I can give you root password to my VPS so that you can test everything you want. I am newbie in everything.

Do you mind if I just PM you the root password to my VPS? Then you and other SMF experts can see what went wrong exactly.

No, there isn't, mostly because SMF hasn't been executed to the point of been able to log this  or it hasn't been executed at all.

By error log I mean your server error logs, if you are running a VPS then you must be somehow capable of managing one.  If you don't manage it then please ask whoever is in charge to take a look at the server error log for you.  You could also ask if you have suhosin installed too.

Yes, I am using VPS but I am using Control Panel to manage everything. So all is just point and click. I do not know linux/apache/php/command line.

So, after purchasing a VPS, the next thing I do is install control panel. I previously use Zpanel. Now using Sentora control panel and vestacp control panel. Inside control panel, all is point and click to manage everything.

I can give you and any expert VPS root password to see what went wrong.

It looks like no got interest in this Sentora + SMF combo bug.

It just leave it here. For those interested, the bug is readily reproduce-able. Please see first post.

I will use Vestacp control panel + SMF combo for this cantonese.today forum project.

Thankyou for your time.

just because you have not gotten a ton of replies in a few hours of your initial post does not mean we have no interest in your bug. it means we have a life outside this forum and time is required to look into this issue especially since this has not been reported before and requires a server configuration to duplicate the issue. the team will look into the issue as time allows and a fix may be issued if one is needed.

I understand your comment.  ;D

Just my cantonese.today domain cannot wait any longer (in bug infested mode  ;D) and I have to reinstall other Control Panel + SMF combo.

I think it's good enough for me to document my little finding here so that if necessary, SMF experts will look into the issue.
