My friend installed simple machines for me and I do not want to bother him anymore because he just found out his cancer came back
He did this to help me as i am having money issues and could be homeless if I can't proceed with my site. Thanks in advane for reading.
I have not idea where to put the code that paypal gave me for the donation button. Paypal says to use an html editor that is a skill set that s over my head. I just want to put the button on my index home page.
Again thank u for reading about my crappy life
using 2.015

Depends on where you want the button to display, and who you want to see it.  Usually goes in index.template.php.  Which theme are you using?

I have a paypal donation link on my forum. I just use a board that redirects to a paypal donation page.

Something very easy..... install the ad management mod and paste the code. Display PayPal where you want with the already blocks available in the mod settings

Where do I install the mod? the ad management mod? Next since I do not know much about this mod of even know what the mod is can u tell me a bit more
I found the /Themes/default/index.template.php but do not know what to do after that.

baby steps come after you learn to crawl

Why are you messing around with the ad management mod?  There are mods that just do a donation button or link.  If you have the PayPal button code (you get that in your PP account - https://www.paypal.com/donate/buttons), it's not too difficult to include it in a div in your index.template.php wherever you want it to appear.

or now you can get the code from the above link, then paste it in one of the spaces provided in the ad management mod.

i dont think this user can do manual edits to files easily.

Sir Osis of Liver

Apparently this isn't any easier for him, and installing a mod intended for another purpose that edits a lot of files is asking for trouble for a new user.

Hell, you can stick a PayPal button pretty much anywhere ->

Which reminds me, I'm thirsty. :P

I have the code and had it all along I was just trying to find out how and where to install. The read that the easiest way is the ad management installation. Mixed messes have really mixed me up. I will delete mod. I will just ut my paypal email address in the new

Sir Osis of Liver

If you want help with this, attach your index.template.php, pm the PayPal code, and indicate where on the page you want the PP button to display.  When you say 'delete mod' you must uninstall it with package manager.
