Hello,

I installed a template which is not compatible with my Simple Machines Forum version and in order to make website work, I deleted the problematic template. The forum is visible without error and this is simple html template for now. How can I change the template manually?

What is repair_settings.php?

you can use repair_settings.php to reset your theme to the default and go from there.

Illori

did not work in what way? without some more information we cannot tell you how to fix it.

which theme did you install and how did you do it? how did you delete the files from it?

shadav

when you ran the repair_settings.php did you click to reset theme to default?

Also, you can use ?theme=1 in the url to get back to the default theme and then force a reset to the default theme in the admin area

OK To help us help you:

When you say template - do you mean THEME?

If so,
When you installed the theme were there errors?
When you uninstalled were there errors? or
Did you delete the theme but not uninstall it first?

If you want to make changes to the default THEME of the site, there are a number of ways.
1. Install a theme which is compatible with the version of SMF that you are running.
https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?action=themes
Make sure you are looking at 2.0 themes

2. Install a mod which allows basic changes to the default theme.
eg https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?action=mods
eg search "color". Make sure you are looking at 2.0 mods

3. Manually code changes to the theme's CSS files.  Obviously you'd need a good level of knowledge of css programming to do this. If you don't have sufficient coding experience then I strongly suggest you do NOT alter the theme files yourself.

If you are NOT talking about themes you'll need to explain what you mean by 'template'.

Hope this helps :)
