Is there a way to add a list of email addresses or ip addresses to a ban trigger rather than having to add a single ban at a time?

Arantor

Not really, no - but just to clarify: you add multiple ban triggers to a single ban.

E.g. banning a spammer might be a ban on IP and on email, which is two triggers on one ban - and you can add many triggers to a single ban but there's no bulk route for doing it outside of directly in the database.

What's the use case?

I'm attempting to add a list of known spam email server. This includes throw away email addresses etc.  There are about 50 that need added. I have a comma separated list. It will just be tedious to add them one by one.

why bother?

Just put in place good spam protection up front to prevent the bots from ever registering

Using the ban system as spam prevention is a losing proposition.

What about human spammers?  They get passed the spam protection and I end up with a bunch of spam accounts.

I do understand what you're saying.

you can also set for under x amount of posts member must pass verification
helpful for those that use people to register and then release bots because then the bots still can't post

Kindred

Or users with under x posts need approval before their posts are public....

Or the mod which we use here that prevents anyone with under x posts from posting links.

Lots of ways to prevent spam that don't depend on the ban system. Bans are good for users, But are pretty much useless against spammers
