Turn Off Confirmation Dialogues

It would be nice in a future version to be able to turn off those confirmation dialogues, presumably in one's profile settings.

I'm really not fond of the idea for destructive actions.

My experience inevitably is that people turn it off then get upset when it doesn't warn them the next time - when inevitably it was a misclick.

Kindred

Yeah

No

It's a bad idea.

The number of times I have accidentally clicked "dekete all" is a significant number greater than zero

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

I have actually clicked delete on installed mods before in package manager and do not get a warning whether it's installed or not! IMO that should have a warning because they're close together and it's easy when your eyesight is as poor as man to accidently click the wrong delete button! ;)

Obviously I disagree. It drives me crazy to confirm that I want to mark a board as read. It's the only pet peeve about version 2.1.2 which otherwise I freaking love!

And yet it was added because people kept marking boards read and regretting it...

Antechinus

Yes, but he hasn't regretted it yet. :D That's for next week.

That's because people don't think before they click. (No offense intended here.)

When I'm about to do something like that or delete something, I always ask myself, is that what you really want to do? Why does a board need to ask me the same thing? (I already know the answer, the question is rhetorical.)

While I understand your and Kindred and Shades' reasoning, I still don't understand why it shouldn't be considered as an option in one's profile. If they turn them off and screw up, who's to blame? I wouldn't think it should be SMF's ...

That's the thing about confirmation dialogues: if you *ever* have them and ever have the option to turn them off, it *always* is the platform's problem for not warning you when you do something you didn't mean to do.

The other problem is that if there's an opt out for this one, people will want the ability to opt out of others.

Steve

Understood on both counts. If this is the only thing I don't like about this version then I'm doing well. :D

I did wonder if it was worth making a mod for you to turn it off on your own forum?

I agree with you on that part! 8)

Edit: But as far as deleting mods, I think there should be a confirmation, especially on the installed mods! Just my 2 cents! ;)
