I have some problems with permissions. Perhaps you can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I want to forbid new users from writing in Shoutbox. I unchecked this in group permissions like this but they still can write. I use SMFPacks Shoutbox Pro.

The same problem is with forbidding new users from writing in a specific message board. I set it here in a forum profile but again new users can write in this message board. Any idea why it doesn't work?

Do I need to set it somewhere else? I use SMF 2.0.19

Can't view your images. However ---

SMF permissions, by default (ALLOW/DISALLOW) are INCLUSIVE.
If ANY group that the user belongs to has the permission ALLOW, then that user has the permission, regardless of any DISALLOW settings.

Which means - if you have any permission granted to the "general member" group, then *ALL* users of the site will have that permission allowed.

1- you can remove all of the permissions from the general group and control them entirely from individual or post-count based groups....   (set all permissions in the general member group to DISALLOW - and set the individual groups who you want to have the ability to ALLOW)

2- You can turn on and use the DENY permissions option.  Adding DENY becomes EXCLUSIVE -- any membergroup with DENY will be forbidden from using that option, regardless of any ALLOW setting.

Regarding this you must post at that mod 's support forum I am afraid. All third party mods/themes related questions should be posted on their respective support topics/forums.

That being said and a bit off topic, but have you considered upgrading to 2.1.2?

I will check it out. Thanks @Kindred

I'd love to upgrade to 2.1.2 but unfortunately my theme doesn't work with it ;/

Steve

Have you posted in the theme author's topic to see if it would be upgraded or is it a theme you created?

And how important is the theme to you? Just curious ...
