Has anyone tried replacing 2.1 topic alerts/emails menu with simpler 2.0 notify/unnotify?  One of my guys thinks it's ridiculous to have to use a wordy dropmenu to do what was a very simple one-click function in 2.0.  Hadn't looked at it before, and am inclined to agree, it's needlessly complicated.

Albert would not have liked 2.1 any more than I do.  :P

::)

A binary toggle worked in 2.0 because it only had email notifications. Now there are emails and alerts. Wanting alerts about a topic doesn't necessarily mean wanting email notifications about that topic. So it's not a binary choice.

Would be nice if the entire alerts feature could be disabled as admin option and all simpler settings restored.

Einstein believed he'd been wrong about the cosmological constant, but for the wrong reason.  But he would have been right about 2.1.

in short... no, I continue to disagree with you on practically everything that you think about 2.1 :P

I've always been honest about it, I don't unconditionally love all of the changes between 2.0 and 2.1 either.
But as a whole, 2.1 is an improvement over 2.0 none the less, and this specific case - Well, replacing all that bulk email with alerts is just a no brainer. Email should be reserved for important stuff, so that when you do need to send out an email you aren't already on every spam list in the universe.

So, anyway, can notify/unnotify be restored to display template without breaking things?
