Hey amanoffewwords, that is good news!  What version of SMF did you have previously, and which MKPortal are you running?  I almost took the dangerous plunge too, but backed out until I found someone like you...  :D

I had SMF 1.1 RC1 using the Juno template which I customised so probably can't see a lot of the mods yet - will  have to have a scan of it another day.

MKportal is 1.1 RC1.

I have described the mod required for subs.php in hxxp:www.mkportal.it/support/showthread.php?t=10940 [nonactive] - to allow the board to open within mkportal.

We are just in the process of discussing how to release it.

Simple Machines is proud to announce the release of SMF 1.1 RC2, the second (and final) release candidate for SMF 1.1, this New Years Eve.

if you are not comfortable with using this Release Candidate we advise you to wait until the release of the final version before using the 1.1 line.

Is it final, or is it not?

Anyone got a place for me to see this tabbed interface.

Would like to try it out before upgrading.

How can you be confused? In your own quotes it says "second and final RELEASE CANDIDATE for SMF 1.1"

As long as it says Release Candidate, Alpha, Beta or SP its not the initial or Final full release.

dan1dyoung

Kat,

This is probably the last Release Candidate before the for SMF 1.1 goes final, so no it is not final at present.

1.0.5 is final (Hence no RC in the version like 1.1 RC2), 1.1 RC2 is a Release Candidate only

Thanks

Thanks Charles.  Since I do not have SMF open "within" the MKPortal env, will I need to make this mod?  I open my SMF forum in a window of it's own and never have plans to embed it within MKPortal, however MKPortal does use the same member database, etc., as the SMF forum.

I'm thinking about making a mirror of my current site and testing the SMF upgrade to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the reply!

Gotcha.

I took "Final" to mean "Final".

Silly me.

God, I don't half get some abuse, here. I'm a nooB to SMF and I'm seriously considering moving to different software, now. I've had nothing but put-downs, since I've joined. We're not all familiar with the terminology used, here, you know.

Thanks for your friendlier respopnse, Dan! ;D

We'd love it if you stuck around. I know it can be hard to pick up all the terminology of something new, especially when so many people have been around here for a while and just expect everyone else to know what they're on about. Give it a bit of time, you'll get it all. And hey, then you can give help to the other newbies - and you'll know the place they're in ;)

Let us know if you need any help with SMF! :)

Any ideas if this will effect the SMFShop mod?  I'm running 1.05.

The shop mod is vital to my forum.

Owain

Ive just upgraded and decided to use the default themes so that I can add mods a lot easier, my question is, if I want to add links at the top of the page will this mess up things when it comes to adding other mods?
