why cant all updates be done through the package manager like so ?

Minor updates are. Major are not.

1.0.5 -> 1.0.6 is a minor update.

You chose to use the beta and RC versions of 1.1. If you don't like it, dont try the beta.

Thanks for the update, devs! Upgraded 3 forums in no-time without any problems.

All minor updates can be done trough the package manager... All major updates can't because of the enormous changes.

but how can a whole script version upgrade from 1.0.5 to 1.0.6 be a minor change?
so updating from 1.0.5 to 1.1 is a major one??

Trekkie101

1.0.6 is on the 1.0 code base

1.1 is on the 1.1 code base.

1.0 line now will only do security and bug fixes for its relases while the 1.1 brings new features.

They will run side by side incase anyone still wants to use 1.0 instead of 1.1 they just won't get any new features.

I'm having a small problem. Must be because of my multiple mods. In Subs.php, I can't find where to stop the part I need to replace, maybe it was changed by a mod or something. I've tried including my Subs.php, but I have no idea how to do that. Should I post my Subs.php whole as a bunch of code? or link ya guys to it? Lemme know, thanks.

I was unable to upgrade through the package manager, as I was getting the same errors that it was incopatable. I have no mods installed at this time either so i couldnt have a problem there... So, i downloaded the upgrade package, manually uploaded the files, pointed to the upgrade.php, and everything worked - including delete upgrade.php:

SMF 7 is where it gets good. That has time travel. You can go back and post before the guy who flamed you. :P

Prasad007

youre supposed to provide the mysql user info

gwen

That was a seemless and easy update!  Through package manager it was a smooth transition, and for those who use spaceant's bubble chat - it didn't even cause a ripple in the skin!

thanks much

Heckel please disregard that post.  Make sure that the path in the package manager is correct.

I uninstalled Faster Parsing mod and manually took the Googlebot code from subs.php and ssi.php, but when I went to my Package Manager some of my mods do not have the uninstall option (Faster Parsecode, TinyPortal .75, and Hide Post 1.04.

1. SMF Arcade 1.2.1                           [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
2. Faster Parsecode 1.09                                     [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
3. Gmail Field 1.1                                [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
4. Integrated Chat 2.3                       [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
5. Ultimate Shoutbox 1.31                  [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
6. OnLine Users Today 1.3                 [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
7. Googlebot & Spiders Mod 1.0.4      [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
8. Board Notes 1.0.2                          [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
9. TinyPortal 0.75                                                  [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
10. Hide Post 1.0.4                                                [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
11. Personal Message Auto Responder 0.2    [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
12. SMF 1.0.6 Update 1.0                   [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]

I backed up of the 1.0.6 install, cause I could not get to the forum page.  I did a restore, but my site still says version 1.0.6.

I checked the subs.php and ssi.php and they version 1.0.6.  I added the Googlebot code back to those two files.

SMF 2.0
TP 1.0 RC1.1
Wordpress 3.1.3

JayBachatero

The reason that those mods wont show the install link is because they have the install for tag in pscksge-info.xml that will stop the mod form installing in any other version of SMF.

SMF 1.2 is non existing. You might have SMF 1.0.2. and then I'd recommend you to update  :)
