No. There will be even a bigger upgrade if you want to go from RC2 to final and you will lose the mods then too. Also there may be new mods that are only made for 1.1 RC3 and not RC2 since it is now an older version. Because of the php bug, it is highly recommended to upgrade to RC3.

Thanks.

Is there a way to manually edit the changes from 1.1 rc2? We run a heavily modded board.

Unfortunately no. There are so many changes to apply one by one.

You can however update 1.1 RC2 to 1.1 RC2-2 by applying the modifications in the Package Manager. Note that this is just a onetime courtesy that will only update your forum security-wise and will not fix any of the other bugs that were fixed in 1.1 RC3.

Quote from: anunlike on August 22, 2006, 01:20:15 AMI saw this in the change log:

Quote* Added a (manual) method by which the auto-news from SMF can be disabled. (Admin, ManageSmileys, Packages, Themes templates)

I've been unable to find this ...

Or I guess "manual" means that you have to do it via the files, directly.

My apologies if I just missed the answer to this, but since I posted this about 4 or 5 page back, I figure I'd ask, again.

Can this only be turned off manually by chaning whatever needs to be changed in the files directly or is there a setting in the admin center to do so?

At any rate, may I suggest that you say this is possible and how to do this in the pop-up help box for the auto-news, if not in a more conspicuous place.

Excellent upgrade to a great forum package, thanks dev's

The function disables news, updates, latest packages and latest smiley sets to be retrieved from the simplemachines.org server. It can be 'enabled' by the following query:
REPLACE INTO smf_settings (variable, value)
VALUES ('disable_smf_js', '1')

Thx for making this update.
some small questions:
MyISAM to InnoDB converting still needed (have no locking tables), just want to improve speed??
My board has:  185820 Posts in 47327 Topics by 48808 Members. Total 1,8 gig database.

Is it a good idee to upgrade without having the board in maintanance mode?

Nothing has changed in that respect. Convert your tables to InnoDB

That's pretty big, even for that amount of posts/topics/members. Maybe you should check if your error log isn't growing too much(?)

QuoteIs it a good idee to upgrade without having the board in maintanance mode?
That depends on what version you're coming from. 1.1 RC2 -> 1.1 RC3 shouldn't be too much of a problem. All other conversions would be better off being done in maintenance mode.

thx for the very quick answer :D
From RC 1.2, so will try it "live"
Forum Error Log is not very long, if you mean the standard error log which can be displayed into the admin.
Deleted it manually when it's getting bigger.

Just my luck, lol.  I guess I will do a manual upgrade to RC3.  The upgrade script doesn't even work.  It stops when loading settings.php, my fault though.  I renamed it a while ago and edit SMF to reflect the changes.  :(

However I can't see any ajax loading indicators...
Where are they?
Make sure you have both your index template and script.js updated.

Same here. No Ajax whatsoever...unless its an option in the admin area.

Me, I'm a Big Chicken , I dont just wait until the dust settles, I wait until the Fire goes out and then
after a long nights sleep I will revisit the idea of updating my websites.
Lost a few things in betas over the years and I am cautious.
A Year before I used SMF,When I was running PHPBB we lost 800+ ,member and the back up was corrupt UGG! :-\

I think like most, losing some key mods, are atleast my issue, the update of mods is anywhere from 2-8 months for the next release by modders to accomidate the update.
I started out my Forums from 1.02 long ago and slowly would update way later.
I just a month ago finally took 10 of my sites up to rc 2 .
Being most of my mods now had new versions I just uninstalled them updated them with teh new mods.

One wonders if giving an Guestimate of a Final would help Modders. i mean would a Modder want to work 8 months and then have a new release a month later :-)

Love the updates I will put on a test board ASAP.

Thanks For All You Guys and Gals Do.
Truly Amazing !

What do the langauge files need to be updated to UTF-8 ??? I used the Upgrade.php to update my files. Shouldn't they all be updated to the new versions. ???

There aern't that many changes to the places that many mods modify in RC3. I've 25% done updating my mods and RC3 has been out for less than 24 hours. I haven't had to change a single thing in the mods I've already converted, with the exception of the supported versions.

UTF-8 languages files are only needed after you've converted your forum to UTF-8 (which you should by no means do, unless you need UTF-8 support). The upgrade package does upgrade all english language files. If you use other language files, you should download them from the download page.

That`s what I thought. (about UTF-8) I uploaded a new style.css and a new script.js but I still don't see it.
