When I attempt to set permissions for a specific board, say for Newbie membergroup.  I get an error that says "the board does not exist."

Known bug... Set permissions for that board to local before trying this or you'll get an error (someone needs to change that message).

pulpitfire

where do you set permissions for that board to local?

Oldiesmann

Admin -> Edit Permissions, click on "local" under "Permissions by board" for the board where you want to set the permissions to local.

pulpitfire

duh...there it is.  thanks :)

I'm having fun with this manage boards thing:
General Discussion (general category)
    Sub-board
        Sub-Sub-board
            Sub-sub-sub-board
                Sub-sub-sub-sub-board
    Sub-board-classic

What means "local"

What does it do?

local means the permissions are specific to that board. Every board shares "global" permissions unless you give them their own local permissions. Hope that made some sense. So you define permissions for all your boards "in general", and then just specify extra permissions on any non-standard boards.
I'm only a half geek really...
