AChat is an AJAX powered webchat, create with a mixture of HTML, PHP and JavaScript. The thing that makes it different from other chat systems is it displays no signs of refreshing. Its fast and supports BB codes, emoticons and a few admin functions.

AChat is currently in ALPHA stage, we would like you to install it and use it, but we would also like you to feedback on how well it works for you and any suggestions you may have.

ALPHA 0.2 - Fixed a bug that only occured to PHP V4.x users, now AChat should work correctly for those recieving a JSON ERROR.

Tell you what guy! I just installed it on my forums, and so far, you looks good.

Can you tell me how to change the Text on the border to the Chat Box from ACHAT Chat room to my own branding? Of course keeping your credits in the footer.

I would also like to see some admin/permission functions added for various membergroups. But nice!

Just tried this and got an Internal Server Error (I think a number 404 too)when I clicked on the chat link. The smileys and the field to enter the posts showed up but got the error message where the chat field should have been.

Bottom of the text area where it says "admin" and there is a button to "Clear chat" :P

Just curious, what kind of technique is behind the chat? are you checking the events over an eventlistener or are you using a periodical update of the container?

both would be a big performance prob on small servers.

Is is possible to add a # of users in chat status line on the index page of the forum?  I would like my forum members to know if anyone is in the chat room...  Excellent mod so far, very smooth operation.

I got the same error, is there a fix to this?

Here it is my forum link. hxxp:www.rave-dating.com/forum/index.php?action=tpvchat [nonactive]

Please let me know if there is one, I am really excited about using this.

I tried to install it again tonight and got the same error. The other chat mods install without a hitch.

QuoteSMF DB Editor - SQL INSTALL
Error creating shoutbox table. SQL Error: No Database Selected

There was one error when upgrading your SQL.

It works great for me.

Man, this mod has alot of potiental. I hope you continue working on it. I also hope you plan on adding some swf sound to post, and room enter and exit.

This could be the coolest chat ever. I like flashchat, but it really drains resources of the server. This is the best chat...

The mod is really cool, but is anyone else experiencing huge amounts of reports in their error log in the admin panel from using it?

Seems every time someone submits something in chat it makes a new report in the log.

Xarcell

Ya, I get the error too. But remember, it's in alpha testing. That's basically saying it's new, in developement and will contain bugs.

So why is this mod approved?
Mod Authors: Modification Approval Guidelines

I am a mod developer myself, and I was very scrupulous in trying to submit only final versions of my mods. Not even the beta versions. First I spend some time to check that everything works fine, and all the features are completed. Then I try to find some folks who are willing to test. And only then to submit my mod.
Seeing a mod approved that is in alpha status really seems a mockery of those who really spend their free time making sure that the mod they submit works fine.
Even more is a mockery from the person who submits mod in alpha version.

Ok, obviously the SMF team is too busy to respect and apply it's own rules.
I'm getting really fed up with how things go around here.

For those who followed the recent events around my persona, just so you know, I reported another two bugs in the 1.1 Final. And after a couple of hours it is still ignored, in spite of the fact that I've seen almost all the support staff online, some have been online for hours, some I've seen even marking topics unread. Still the report was read only 7 times, from which 4 is me re-reading what I wrote. All this in a board for Charter Members, with very little activity - so it's pretty hard to miss it once you open the board.
I don't know anymore what to do. I wait another day and start to PM all the team, maybe they start to listen to me. After that I just move aside, I'm trying to support the software, but it seems that there's no need or desire for help from outside. Or resources. Excuses don't interest me anymore.

I will update all my mods in the next few weeks. Thanks for your patience.
