congrats. 5beers for each developer.
i just have gone through brief log between rc3 to final, didn't find many new options, which are promised in this release. I wonder, if they didn't!

nitins60

One more challenging question to developers.
What's yr next SMF edition name? ;)

apollonios

No new options were promised for this release. This is a stability release, not a test drive for new features.

The Post Moderation which some forum software has .
Also was a mod here for a short time.
There is a post in the forum where it says it was planned in the final release.
Based on what was said below is this not the final release but a stable
release?

SMF 1.1 Final is the "Stable" release. To make something stable, you should test all features before it goes gold. If developers were to add new features, 1.1 final wouldn't be a stable release, but a beta software.

You should always expect new features from beta versions, not gold software, or even not release candidates.

Post moderation is always promised as in "the release after 1.1", which definitely doesn't mean 1.1

This website currently runs a version of SMF code named "SMF Development Edition", which already includes post moderation.

The upgrade from 1.0.9 went flawlessly  until the end of the extraction process.  I hit the "Continue" button, and got the message in doomsday-size type:

"Sorry, the copyright must be in the template. Please notify this forum's administrator that this site is using an ILLEGAL copy of SMF!"

My copy of SMF 1.0.8 was downloaded via Fantastico (after downloading I upgraded manually to SMF 1.0.9).

What might be the problem here?

Are there many changes to SSI.php? Will my custom functions still work?
The only thing php can't do is tell you how much milk is left in the fridge.

How come no one will answer the questions on effects this upgrade will have to currently installed mods?  We know that we cannot upgrade using package manager, but if we do the upgrade the old fashion way, we will be in for a lot of work until other upgrades using package manager.

Upgrading will overwrite all of your files and as such will remove any code changes made by mods.  So you'll have to reapply any mods afterwards.

@acdouglas can you do me a favor and look in your index.english.php file located in /Themes/default/languages and find
$forum_copyright =
and tell me what the full line is.
ie:
$forum_copyright = '<a href="http://www.simplemachines.org/" title="Simple Machines Forum" target="_blank">Powered by ' . $forum_version . '</a> |
<a href="http://www.simplemachines.org/about/copyright.php" title="Free Forum Software" target="_blank">SMF &copy; 2006, Simple Machines LLC</a>';

Also please make sure to test it with the default theme first.

All I have is http and ftp access on my web space and was wondering if there is a way to restore a backup using ftp.  I see I can backup but would like to know if I can restore before I update?  My web hosting is with godaddy.com if that helps.
