Please notify this forum's administrator that this site is using an ILLEGAL copy of SMF!

and all the files still show as 1.0.7 in the admin????

OOPS nevermind.. was the update not upgrade that caused the issue.. all went well -

Thank you my friend .. that solved the problem .. I had not understood that English was the default language.

Thanks to Nico I was able to rectify my error .. spent a couple of hours exploring and assessing ..

That is one real nice Forum .. The one thing that a newbie wants .. and needs .. is to be taken through a clear concise set of instructions .. 10/10

Ease of installation .. 10/10

Admin Forum Control Panel .. 10/10

The overall feel of the Software is smooth yet crisp ..  8)

I am persuaded .. I will sign up as a charter member .. I can only imagine that there is a certain euphoria  in amongst the team at SMF that produced the software .. a great piece of work .. and just in time for Christmas ... Whew!

Time to relax .. its all over bar the shouting  ;) Once again .. Congratulations on an exemplary  teamwork task .. inspirational!

I used Webinstall, and everything worked great, or so I thought.  I have admin acess everywhere, except in the package manager and gallery.  when I click on package manager, all I get is blank white screen.  and the Gallery button is gone.  Does anyone have any clues?

You should package your custom changes as a mod, so then you can apply them again easily :)

How can we do this?  Or where can we find out more information about doing this?

Thanks

After using webinstall to update from RC3 I get the copyright error.

What file is it exactly that I need to edit to add the copyright notice? I didn't delete anything, just ran the webinstall...

@Tarke, than, and caero: Download webinstall from the download page and try again.  If it still doesn't work, either start a new thread or post in an existing thread in the Install and Upgrade support board.  You can also download the large upgrade package and do a manual upgrade.

When I run the webinstall.php it shows me this message :

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in D:\servidor\web\mPhpPeru\webinstall.php on line 1074

The installer was unable to download the archive (http://www.simplemachines.org/download/index.php/smf_1-1_update.tar.gz) from the server. Please try using the regular installer package instead.

Click here to try this step again.

What do I have to do?

kegobeer

@glcis: Download webinstall from the download page and try again.  If you continue to get this error, use the manual upgrade method.  Visit the download page and download the large upgrade package, upload the files and run the upgrade script.

webinstall is refusing to let my upload the files as it is claiming it cannot connect with the ftp server with my details, I have tried changing the numbers underneath the language selections but still nothing, please can somebody help.

Thantos

It should be giving you a reason why it couldn't connect.  Can you please copy and paste it here.

Unable to connect to FTP server with this combination of details.

This is the only message it gives.  But I know my log in details are correct as I can log in via an ftp program.  The file permission I was using is 0664.

Just a quick note.

For mac users it's best to use webinstall.php with Firefox. Safari seems to have problems with the file.

Well done guys, it's a great piece of work. A fantastic example of making something easy to use. My board also seems to run faster as well since the upgrade.  :)

This is what I get too.
I tried all the possible cobinations for relative path.
Nothing worked.
I have an absolute path like this:
/home/content/u/s/e/username/html/forum
Webinstall.php automatically put "content" to the username box and "/u/s/e/username/html/forum" to the relative path box.
Of course I deleted since its wrong.

I entered my right FTP user and FTP pass. Then tried all combinations for the path like:
/home/content/u/s/e/username/html/forum
/content/u/s/e/username/html/forum
/u/s/e/username/html/forum
/username/html/forum
/html/forum
/forum

I also tried changing FTP server to ftp.domain.com with all these combos.
I also tried with and without starting/trailing slashes in the path.

All I got is the same error..
