Except for the fact that it's clustered.... so they can afford it easier.

How it is more affordable if there is more servers?

250 GB * 76 575 = 19141250 GB = ~18692 TB. And bandwidth a lot more (160807500 GB).

To transfer that they'd need to have 60GB connection. Overselling will only work because sites are usually very small using < 100MB and under 5 GB bw. If you go over that they will start saying that your site is using too much resources

(And if servage started at 98 why they registered their domain at 2001?)

Whatever.  I'm not fighting.

But to answer your question about the domain, it's as simple as anything.  They started business under a different name.  If you went to the site and read, you'd understand:
Quote from: Servage.netFounded in 1998 under a different name Servage Hosting is well established, financial independent and extremely experienced in the hosting industry. We currently host 76628 websites and got plenty of room for your website also!

And also to note:
Quote from: Servage.netHow can you offer so much for so low prices?
It is really a numbers game. Because our clusters uses extreme amounts of data transfer and disk space we are able to negotiate very advantageous contracts with our subcontractors – we then pass these savings on to you!

What happens if I go over the bandwidth/transfer limit?
Should you go over your transfer limit (unlikely) we will take your site offline for the rest of that period (unless an agreement is made). We never charge heavy overage fees as many other hosting companies do - with Servage your costs are fixed!

Do some research before you accuse.

I've got a friend who uses Servage and donates space for me to use for a large number of downloads I plan on offering. I know it's overselling, but I wanna see what Servage can take it. I have my doubts on it though...

The reason I dont go there myself is because of their crappy control panel.

AwwLilMaggine - you could use it to setup a semi-official Ubuntu mirror. I wonder how much they'd like that. ;)

(Or, better still, how long they'd let it go before "something" happens.)

SMF vs. Godzilla? Who do you think will win?

Yeah, I don't like it either.  I started with cPanel, never tried Plesk, but can say that the ServagePanel is nothing spectacular.  The one thing they do have going for them is the WebDrive ;)

I use SMF since v0.xx, and now v1.1.2 I find it a very matured product offering what I need at the moment.

I have wanted to go and paid for VB, but checked SMF again in Dec 2006 and found the new 1.1.1 version available. Tried it again, installed a few mods (yes, just a few is need, don't overhaul your whole SMF codes), found my favorite theme, and I set up my forum within a day :)

Tiny Portal is a must for your SMF. Check out my website at:
