completing upgrade - missing p/word option

It's been a hard month - I cannot make sense of this update instruction:

You have to utilize an FTP Client such as "FileZilla" to access your websites files, or "File Manager" if you are using cPanel. The same way you added the upgrade files.

You'd modify upgrade.php, find $disable_security = 0; and change it to $disable_security = 1;

@himagain2 - were you able to complete the upgrade with the suggestions given?  Editing the file with the file manager in cpanel is probably the easiest way.  You could also use a nice text editor like Notepad++.
