Hello,
When I try to delete a topic or post I get a blank white page and the topic/post remain. I also cannot delete users. I am able to delete private messages, though. Any idea what the problem might be?

When i hit delete the url looks like this:

forumblahblah.com/index.php?action=deletemsg;topic=699.0;msg=13720;cdcc4ba45dd=352fd3a55fdcff8c9d9d12b87c8dc5e0

And it's a plain white page.

Anything in the ol' error log?

Nothing that looks related to this. It's just typical stuff like incorrect passwords and other common errors.

I ran maintenance, but that didn't resolve it.

To try and isolate this, can you try a different browser?

Kindred

do you have a file called error.log in yoru site or forum root?

I just tried in IE and it says "The website cannot display the page"
I was using firefox previously, and in that browser it is just a blank white page.

Kindred, I do have that file error.log

Kindred

and what are the contents of that file?

Right after calling removetopic.php is this error: [07-Jun-2013 11:40:09] PHP Parse error:  syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting '=' in

It looks like this is the cause. Do you know what I'd do to fix it? I am not a coder at all.

Kindred

we'd need the full error... that appears to only be part of it
Also, that might not be the only thing...   How big is that file?

You can delete it (or rename it) and then try your error again and it should write all related errors to a new error.log file

Okay I deleted the log and triggered the error.
This is all it says:

[07-Jun-2013 14:52:53] PHP Parse error:  syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting '=' in /home3/xyz/public_html/blahblah.com/Sources/RemoveTopic.php on line 109

I renamed the forum (blah blah isn't the name) just for security reasons.

When I look at line 109 in that file it says: list ($starter, $poster, $subject, $post_time, $approved)

Shambles

Can we see a copy of /Sources/RemoveTopic.php (attach the whole file to your post)...?

i have a feeling that its got corrupted, so try to replace it with a fresh one from the install or upgrade package ;)

Doh.

Well that worked. Thank you!

For those interested: I uploaded the removetopics.php file from a backup. It was 44kb. The one it replaced was only 3kb, so something happened. Also, I can now delete posts and users, so the code for those must be in this file, too.
