I have been trying to install smf for over 3 hours now but I cant figure out what the problem is. I have tryied to install both 2.0.4, 2.0.5 and 2.0.6 but neither of them works. i upload printcreens!

Sorry for bad english!

Arantor

Well, the first install was successful - just you didn't remove the install files after you were done.

The second screen is because UNC paths aren't supported (paths like \\servername\path) and probably never will be because of the rarity of them, and the problems attached to making them work consistency. I'd suggest you get a different host involved on this.

I know many websites using CityNetwork <--(The webhotel) having smf working. like http://www.ezgaming.se/ [nofollow]

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Arantor

Well, as I said the first screenshot is simply that you didn't remove certain files after installation was complete (but the installation was already complete and successful by that time)

The second screenshot is a sign of a configuration not compatible with SMF (and that we will not fix)

New error message! New printscreen!

So tell me. How can it work for others using the same host as me?

Oskarsson

Thanks for this AWESOME support....

Arantor

Being sarcastic isn't going to change anything, nor is expecting an answer from volunteers in like 5 minutes. The reality is that you need to ask your host for a different server (not a Windows one with UNC paths) and there really is nothing that's going to change that. I suspect the other people on that same host are using different server configurations.

Okay sorry. I think I know the problem now. I have the website settings on Window/IIS. may it work if I change to Linux/Apache?

Arantor

It's definitely recommended to run on Apache/Linux than it is to run on IIS/Windows :)
