Need Help Creating Private Forum

I'm trying to figure out how to set a forum to "private" so non-registered members can't view it and search engines won't spider it.  I've looked everywhere but can't find any info on this.  Can anyone help?

admin -> Features and Options -> Allow guests to browse the forum (uncheck this)

Spiders act like guests.  They can only see what guests can see.  They simply follow links about.  So if guests can't see the forum then spiders can't either.
