"Show number of pages" option

Give the user the ability to set how they want to display the page numbers

or display everything

On large threads like Word Association the second method is faster to navigate !!

but it clutters up the screen yeah making number of pages shows a user selectable number would be great.

Or display as it currently is then add a drop down box with all the pages, suppose thats something that can easilly be done with the template system though

Example: You are on page 2 of 25 in a thread, you can see the numbers 2 3 4 ... 25, but you would like to see what's on page 10 in the same thread. How about a dropdown box containing all the other pages not viewed in the 2 3 4 ... <- those...

this sounds good to me.
But for users with big screen resolutions, showing all numbers in a page would be much faster. they needn't to type in the number. they just click on it. Maybe there could be both integrated with a dropdown selection in user profile like the quick-moderation

Options in profile:
Display page numbers as:
* Standard (like it is now)
* All page numbers individually
* Standard with jump box (for threads with more than one page)

I can't promise this will actually get in but I'll code it none the less and release it as a mod if necessary

Admins should be able to override this, if I have a 50 page thread I don't want it as an option.  Let an admin set the max thread pages length that All is shown.

David - are you sure we mean the same thing?

What we are talking about here is just the page numbers - not the amount of entries shown per page. The option to show every page is already an admin option - the changes I made only allow the user to choose the way the pages are displayed. If the user WANTS to see all 200 pages of a thread as links at the bottom it doesn't cause any slow down to the server at all - so I don't see why the admin should care?

PS - to clarify what I mean the user can select to have a 20 page thread either shown as:
1 2.... 4 [5] 6 .... 19 20

OR

1 2 3 4 [5] 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20

Either way it causes no slow down on the server so why restrict the user in which they wish to choose?

(back button) (form to enter page number, shows current page) "out of x pages" (front button)

This was going to be my request, but I see it's already requested.  Has a mod or plug-in been implemented?

I frequent hxxp:graybeardoutdoors.com [nonactive] and some of the threads run out to sixty pages or more.  There is no way to access individual pages without going through a tedious process.

That's a backport of the feature in SMF 2.0 which lets you click on the "..." to show more page numbers.
